I write in response to your letter dated 11/24/which was just receivedCustomer did purchase a Volvo Sfrom Torch Light, Incon 10/14/Prior to purchasing vehicle, customer went on a test drive with himself and a friendHe purchased the vehicle and all was fineHe drove the

Mr. [redacted] purchased a 2005 Volvo XC70 from Torch Light, Inc. on July 26, 2016. At the time of purchase, Mr. [redacted] was offered a 90-day engine/transmission catastrophe warranty. Mr. [redacted] waived said warranty and purchased a 36-month warranty from a third-party company. [redacted] Auto Service is...

an independent service center at which Mr. [redacted] took his vehicle to be repaired. Pursuant to the complaint at hand, Mr. [redacted] issues are with [redacted] and the handling of alleged repairs for which we cannot comment since we do not have any interest/ownership of [redacted]. If Mr. [redacted] has issues with the repair of his vehicle, he needs to speak with the people who repaired his vehicle.

First, rather than reiterate our first response, please refer to it. Second, Torch Light is not responsible for consumer's repair. As the Revdex.com is aware, according to NJ law all vehicles sold with over 100,000 is sold "as is". Furthermore, consumer signed the "as is" form and they waived NJ inspection and dealer's obligation by signing same on the Bill of Sale.

Regards,

I am rejecting this response because: The law says that the seller is responsible for all repairs needed if the car cannot pass inspection within 14 days of purchase.  We purchased an additional limited powertrain warranty for $800.  This does not absolve absolve Jeff L[redacted] of his seller's responsibility: either get the car to pass inspection, or take the car back for a full refund.  I owned the car for three days, drove a total of 40 miles before it stopped working. It would not go past 20 mph. I took it to my local [redacted] in W Orange. They diagnosed it same day; new throttle body, programming and electrical. Their estimate: $1000.  We called Jeff. He said [redacted] would take too long, and they don't know Volvos as well as his guys ([redacted]'s). Jeff L[redacted] offered to pay for the repair at [redacted]'s, saying I would pay only $100. I had it towed to [redacted]'s at my expense ($50).  The car sat at [redacted]'s for 20 days.  We called daily, and contacted Jeff L[redacted] regularly. Finally on June 11th [redacted]'s realized they can't fix it, had the car sent to the [redacted].  The cost to repair the car is $270 to [redacted]'s, and $1400 to Volvo.  Jeff L[redacted] offered to pay $500 toward these bills, but he is responsible for paying the total repair bill so that we can get our car inspected.

Review: I purchased a 2000 Volvo V70 from Jeff L[redacted] at Torch Light Motors on 5/16/15. I was told that the car was in great condition and had no problems with it. I purchased the car and a 2 year warranty as well. We drove this car home, and on two or three local errands, all total about 40 miles driven. On Tuesday, May 19th, the car broke down. We brought it to a local repair shop. We were told it needed a new throttle body, which would cost $1000, plus programming work of unknown cost. I called Jeff L[redacted] and he recommended that I have it towed to his colleague, [redacted] in [redacted]. Jeff said that they would fix it faster, and they specialize in volvo repair. I had it towed there at my expense. It arrived there on May 20th. Jeff and the [redacted] shop said they would fix the car. I called daily to the auto shop. I called Jeff approximately every two days to remind him that the car needed repair and that it was with his recommended shop. The car remained with [redacted] until June 9th. That is a total of 20 days they had the car. Despite my constant calls Jeff never provided me details on what was wrong with the car. On June 9th [redacted] towed the car to the [redacted] dealership. They estimate the repairs will cost $1700.00. Jeff refuses to pay for these repairs.Desired Settlement: I would like Torch Light Motors to pay for the necessary $1700 repairs.

Response:

Mr. [redacted] purchased a 200 Volvo V70 from Torch Light, Inc. on 5/16/15. Said vehicle had 136,741 miles at time of purchase. Mrs. [redacted] telephoned several days later to say she thought something was wrong with car. She also stated her mechanic did not feel comfortable working on a Volvo. Thus, I suggested she take the vehicle to [redacted]'s to be evaluated. [redacted]'s determined that the vehicle needed a throttle body. [redacted]'s determined that the vehicle needed to go to a Volvo franchise because they wanted to confirm their diagnosis was correct. The repair was quoted at $1,700. As a courtesy to Torch Light, [redacted] offered Mrs. [redacted] our 15% discount which brought the repair down to approximately $1,400. In addition to the 15% discount, I offered to contribute $500 toward the repair. Thus, the balance to the customer would have been approximately $900.00. Mrs. [redacted] refused both the 15% discount and my $500 proposed contribution. In closing, it is important to note, that the vehicle in question was sold with 136,741 miles. The "As Is" form was explained to and signed by the buyer.Sent on: 6/16/2015 8:43:05 AMSent by: 69.125.228.149

Review: I bought a vehicle from [redacted] at torchlight, he reassured me over and over that the car was in perfect condition. Not even a day after I got it back to new york, dash lights started coming on with problems, I took it to a dealership and they told me that the all wheel drive doesn't work, 3000 dollar fix,, which I specifically asked if it worked when I bought it (I have emails to prove he reassured that the car was in perfect condition). Also the dealership told

Me that if I would have drove another ten miles the axle would have fallen off. This is an outrage and very irritating that I spent my entire savings on a car that was in "perfect" condition when it's really in "junk" conditionDesired Settlement: what I want is for the car to be fixed to the condition he stated it was in when I bought it, or a full refund for the vehicle.
