Total Community Management Corp. Reviews (3)

I have lived in dutchgate in valley stream n.y... TOTAL COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT is the worst management company I've ever dealt with... For three years I've had and ongoing problem with a barking dog.. They have done nothing to resolve the issue.. When I asked for help they stuck their head in the sand.. TCM said they would put and end to the ongoing disturbance and when the saw would have to put effort into this situation they let it go.. There are several problems with dogs at dutchgate.. When I moved here I was told the dogs had to be keep under control.. And they were not permitted to disturb the neighbors.. If you like peace and quiet look somewhere else...

Review: An exterminator was called in to investigate what were believed to be animals in the ceiling. The exterminator came and performed the work and I was told if nothing was found, I would be billed. I disputed this idea given the circumstances of the case, but I'm not disputing that at this time. What eventually happened was 6 months after the fact I received an exorbitant charge on my monthly maintenance statement that was (without my authorization) automatically debited from my account that supposedly was this exterminator charge. I made e-mail and formal written requests asking for 1) a complete and detailed bill of services to justify the amount of the charge 2) written proof that Total Community Mgmt was authorized to ever remove anything other than customary monthly maintenance via ACH payment and 3) justification for assessing the charge 6 months later without notice given the fact they were just notified I was selling my unit. All requests went unanswered and ignored. I want a detailed bill justifying the charge. I've been ignored since day 1 with this request. So we just tack on whatever dollar amount we want and because they're the management company they just ignore their residents? Ridiculous.Desired Settlement: They're going to hold me hostage for this money on Wednesday 8/**/2014 which is my closing. I have a near $500 outstanding balance yet never once received a bill to justify this cost. How do I know the exterminator isn't waiting for $250 and they tacked on another few hundred just because they can? I've had enough issues with this company that I wouldn't trust them for a second. I want a detailed bill.

Response:

At this time, I have been contacted directly by Total Community Management regarding complaint ID [redacted], however my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The company did respond to my requests by over and over again saying I was free to hold off paying the bill until my closing. They knew I was selling and were using that to force my hand. I told them repeatedly I was not trying to get out of paying but rather wanted to see a bill to support the amount. Who ever accepts an amount for services rendered without seeing a bill of what was actually done? They could have put $1,000 on my account as the amt owned and I would have had no recourse whatsoever. At closing last month I was forced to remit payment and I never once got a response to my formal request (written and electronic) for a bill. Completely unethical.

Review: We live in an end condo unit owned by [redacted] and [redacted] (I am submitting this complaint with their full knowledge and consent) that is managed by Total Community Management (TCM). We have been in contact with the owners, as well as with [redacted] who is our property manager at TCM, regarding the damage that was caused by Sandy and the blizzard this past winter in the garden directly outside our front door. Our garden area lost two large pine trees and the remaining one was in failing health, as well as a section of bushes near the street. The remaining bushes in the garden are also completely overgrown and have been taken over with weeds; eventually we trimmed the bushes at our own expense. This garden is to be maintained by the Landscape Committee and is not part of the owners responsibility; this is what the maintenance fees are paid for. We originally contacted [redacted] at TCM on April [redacted] 2013, and received a response stating that the landscape committee would be surveying the grounds in early May and would mark ours to be sure it was looked at. On May [redacted], 2013 I sent a follow up email to ask what the outcome of the survey had been, including photographs of how bad the garden looked. From this point we (myself and the owners) have not had any success in having our garden repaired despite a myriad of phone calls and emails to [redacted]. [redacted] did respond to one of my emails stating that he would only communicate with the owners, however he has not done that either because the owner and myself have been in constant contact regarding this issue (copies of emails can be provided). At one point someone from TCM showed up and removed the dying tree, planted one small pine tree, and put down grass seed a few weeks ago that has not filled in and is being taken over by weeds. They also removed part of the bushes on the end where the snow had bent them over too badly to restore and left an empty space that I put flowers in at my own expense. Since then they have not returned to do any further work. We have also noticed on our walks throughout the neighborhood that we have the only garden that looks so terrible. I would be happy to provide copies of the numerous emails and photos that have been sent to [redacted] at TCM, as well as emails between myself and the owner stating her inability to get a response from [redacted].Desired Settlement: We want the full garden restored to it's original condition prior to the storms we had last fall and winter, as well as for the regular maintenance of weeding and trimming to be done on a regular basis to ensure the garden retains its aesthetic appeal. The owners should also be reimbursed part of their maintenance fees to compensate for the ridiculous delay in repairing the garden.
