Review: To whom it may concern:Back-story:I missed one HOA payment (of $192.00) while I was out of town on business. When I got back 3-weeks later I picked up my mail and paid all my [redacted]s as I usually do.I forgot to pay the HOA payment for April before I left so when I got back it was considered late which is my fault. On my current invoice for May I found they charged me an extra $10 late fee for non-payment in April. After I checked my checkbook register finding no entries for them I tore my office apart. I found the unpaid April invoice (it fell behind my desk so I didn't see it). My problem is Total Property Mgmt has sent this to collections for an extra $75.00 on top of their $10.00 late fee.I work in this same industry. I'm the west coast civil engineer for one of the largest property management firms in the U.S. and Europe. My territory ranges from Dallas, Tx to Denver, Co to all parts of Calif (San Diego to San Fran/Oakland). None of my colleges (attorneys, district managers, assistants, etc. in this same field) have ever heard of a company pilling on excessive fees such as this in such a short timeframe. Some of them commented that perhaps Total Prop Mgmt is trying to generate extra funds to offset some bad business shortcomings. Any help you can lend in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Some other options I'm told is to try and generate interest within the community to see if any of the neighbors have had these same experiences and try to go for another management company, or put in the time documenting my argument for small claims court, neither of which appeals to me.Thank you in advance[redacted]Desired Settlement: 1. They remove (or pay) the outrageous / unwarranted $75 collection fee.2. The collection process performed by Total Property Management, Inc., on behalf of the Homeowners Association, at the direction of the Board of Directors, is in accordance with the Association’s governing documents, California Civil Code, the Association’s adopted Collection Policy, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices.

The homeowner has the right to dispute the charges assessed to their account with the Board of Directors, and this information, along with all legally required disclosures are provided in the notices sent to the homeowner. The Association’s adopted Collection Policy is provided annually to the homeowner, and again at notification of the delinquency.

Collection action at this level is not reported to credit agencies.
