The patient in question has Medicare insurance and no secondary insurance on file We did bill Medicare for the physical therapy visits in question and were paid for Medicare’s portion At that time Medicare informed us (through the remit they send) that the patient owed coinsurance, $for the November claims and $for the December claims (total of $160.38) Since the patient did not have a secondary insurance to cover the coinsurance, we billed the patient for the amount owed We have received her $payment and have applied it to her balance owed We are unclear why Medicare would have told the patient she did not owe any money, their remit clearly shows the coinsurance owed and we are working with the patient on a payment plan [redacted] is a safety net hospital and we see all patients regardless of the ability to pay Thanks and have a great day!!
