Review: On Sept. 17, 2013 I rented a car from [redacted] That evening I was parked in the lot bordering [redacted]. & [redacted]. The lot is for the use of customers shopping at stores along Ave., [redacted] The last stores in the area close at 10:00PM.At about 8:30PM I went to retrieve the car, but it was not there. A very heavy set white male in a gray van drove by and said the car was towed to their lot on [redacted] He said I could retrive the car that evening but that he would call to advise at what time. He said his tow truck driver was on another assignment. Later that evening I got a call advising that I could pick up the car that evening at the West Orange location. I took a cab ($25 fare)to the lot at [redacted]. The heavy set male said the total cost was $320 ( invoice attached). I wanted to pay by credit card but the FAT Man said he only accepts cash. The invoice indicated that credit cards were acceptable.I asked to speak to the owner to register a complaint, but the FAT man would not provide that information.I feel that the tow was illegal. It was done at 8:30PM, stores in the area are open until 10:00PM. I feel the tow ccompany did not have a contract to tow cars from that lot. Also, I should have been charged only for the tow, but the tow operator charged me for a slew of other items including storage although I had retrieved the car at 11:30PM that same evening.Desired Settlement: I will only settle for the full $320 plus $25.00 for the taxi fare. Otherwise, I will proceed in NJ Small Claims Court.
