Town & Country Realty of Franklin County, Inc Reviews (2)

Review: Recently moved out of a house I had been renting from this company for the last year. My rent was paid on time, if not EARLY, every month since I moved in. I had to do a walk through inspection before moving out. The person from the company who came to do the inspection was incredibly rude. She picked up my belongings that she found in the house and tossed them on the living room floor. I then heard her whisper to her associate that they were going to "teach me a lesson" and started making a false list of things they were going to hold me responsible for. I had thoroughly cleaned every inch of the home before leaving but after she walked through the house with wet feet from the rain, she informed me I would be responsible for paying to have it re mopped & cleaned. There was no damage to the house, was cleaned before leaving & rent was never late but they made it clear I would not be getting my full deposit back. Terrible company.Desired Settlement: I request my full deposit refunded because house was in exact same condition as when I took possession also because of harsh treatment endured during inspection.

I have many more photos that I can send you, as this program would only take 10. I also have a copy of the move-in and move-out inspection signed by the tenant. House had all new flooring throughout, professionally painted (walls, ceilings & wood trim), along with being professionally cleaned prior to their move in one year ago. I can send the documentation invoices from the above vendors if you would like.I DID NOT track dirt on the floors (I and my associate took our shoes off at the door). I did NOT throw any personal belongings! I simply set a child's boogie board & kite in the living room floor that was left in a closet for the tenant to take. I did NOT whisper ANYTHING to anyone! When I had finished the inspection - I told the tenant I would have to have some cleaning done. I did NOT tell her she would not get deposit back - or any part of it, as I first need vendor invoices to determine what the cleaning costs/repairs will be. Our lease provides for 30 days for this process of deposits. Please view attached photographs of some of the locations that need cleaning. Please contact me with any further questions and concerns.Respectfully,[redacted]

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The response recieved was nothing but fabrications. My personal belongings were THROWN onto the floor and she absolutely did whisper that she was going to "teach me a lesson". I will not be satisfied until my $725 deposit is refunded.

Regards,

Review: First off I would like to let the community of Franklin County, Va. that Gale Clingenpeel & [redacted] at "Town & Country Realty" located at [redacted], Boones Mill, Va. [redacted] are the MOST UNPROFESSIONAL human beings I as well as my husband has ever dealt with. When Gale agreed to meet my husband and I at her office to take us to look at a rental home located on [redacted] in Rocky Mount, Va. she was very rude and unprofessional from the very first time we met with her. When I asked her questions about the home once we were there on site looking at it, she had her hands in her pockets and had an attitude, and when I asked a question she just shrugged her shoulders and said "she didn't know." My husband and I tried to overlook her professionalism because we were moving to the area due to my husband opening his own office. The next day we filled out a rental application and gave them our security deposit and paid an application fee. The next day we called to see when was the soonest we could move in, since [redacted] never returned our call to inform us of this information. [redacted] nor Gale could ever give us a move in date or time. They did not want to have the home cleaned or any walls painted before we moved in. The house had 2 adults 2 small children and a dog inside. It needed to be cleaned. Getting to my complaint, I was discriminated against because I am on disability due to a back injury and I'm on Social Security, and also because Gale looked down and noticed I had a tattoo and she said something about that. A few day's later, when we called back to see if there was any update on a move in date, she as in [redacted] said she could not give us one, my husband then started asking some questions and he got nothing but an attitude. [redacted] said "I will have to let you speak to Gale" so he did and again we received nothing but attitude. We asked them to tare up our check that we had given for a security deposit and to refund our application fee, and they are refusing to do this. VERY RUDE !!!!!Desired Settlement: We would like our security deposit refunded immediately!!!

Response:

I do not think anyone was rude to the [redacted], I agreed, upon their persistence, to show them the house on a weekend when or office was closed. Prior tenants were still in the house & present at the time it was shown. I will be glad to provide their name & number if you would like to speak with them in question to my attitude that day.Our policy is to have all properties cleaned, painted or repaired if necessary prior to a new tenant moving in. The [redacted] appeared to be in a hurry to move in and were upset that we could not guarantee them that the house would be ready by the 27th of June, as the prior tenants were in the process of moving out, but their move-out inspection had not been done, which would determine necessary repairs, cleaning or painting needed. Our office however could commit to have it ready by July 1st. This was not acceptable to the [redacted].Their deposit check (which was NOT cashed) was MARKED VOID and returned mailed to them from our office on 6/14/2013. Application fee of $10. is non refundable. Please feel free to contact me if you have further questions. Thank You, Gaye ClingenpeelTown & Country Realty

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Gaye, and [redacted] are missing the whole point on how my husband and I were addressed during the meeting. I have reported "Town & Country Realty" to Richmond, Va. and they are also looking into their actions. I was discriminated against and it is NOT acceptable, and I will NOT TOLERATE anyone discriminating against me, or anyone. I have also went as far as contacting the appropriate individuals in the town of Rocky Mount, Va.. Gaye not only messed up and could not give us a move in date and would not fix anything broken, damaged or paint, she also messed up the tenants that were still living there and wanting to move out ASAP. I here by want a written apology letter to myself and my husband, as well as our application fee, since it was upon their fault they could not give us a time, date etc. of a move in date. Also, their mistake cost them big time. I DO NOT recommend doing any kind of business with TOWN & COUNTY REALTY, especially Gaye and [redacted], they are the most unprofessional people I have ever come across. Since we are now permanent residents of Rocky Mount, Va. now, and my husband works for a huge insurance agency, most of his business comes from Franklin Co. and Martinsville. He will be sure do distribute the news of this agency. Regards,[redacted]
