I went to DSS in early January for assistance with my utilities due to starting a new job and having to pay for uniforms and childcareI got assistance in the amount of $The same day the assistance was approved I called the Town of Pinetops utility division to see what I needed to do since I got help with my utilities that monthThe woman I spoke with was an older woman, she stated that I did not need to do anything, she explained to me that my bill would be paid, the funds would be deposited to my account, but she did not know when, and that my next bill would high because they did not know when they would receive the funds, but I would not be cut off because it was considered paidSo the cut off date for the month came and went (if you don't pay the bill by the cutoff date your services will be terminated the same day)So my services were not terminated in January because the bill was considered paidSo February got here and I paid that bill in full, even $extra because I was running late for work and could not wait for the changeSo the very next day I am out running errands and I end up coming home around pmA few minutes after settling in and trying to wash a few dishes and starting to cook the lights go outI call the town to see what the issue is, and a woman named [redacted] (she is the hispanic looking lady) tells me that I owe $on my bill and I told her I just brought in $So I go down there and right away she has an attitudeI told her that DSS paid the bill for January so where are the charges coming fromShe argued with me and insisted that I was lying about the whole thingI had to go home and get the paper that proved they were paying my billAnd I told her that the woman I spoke with had told me I didn't need to bring in a paper or anything back in JanuaryShe still told me I was lying about the whole situation, and she looked angry and ticked off because I actually had the paper saying that DSS was payingI have never felt so disrespectedI get along with any and everyone, but she was so nasty, I will never step foot inside that building again, especially if she is thereMy lights were cut back on, and she acted like she didn't want to make the call, but she didBut my question for her was, if I didn't pay my utilities in January, or called down there right after leaving DSS and spoke to someone from Town of Pinetops why weren't my utilities cut off in January when they were supposed to be cut off? This company does not grant extensions, does not make payment plansIf I didn't do what I was telling her I did, why weren't the lights disconnected? This is not the first time this same situation has happened eitherI have a neighbor who went through the same situation in DecemberShe just didn't know how to go about getting help with the situationAt the end of the situation I was still charged late fees (even though the bill was paid before the cut off date)All I would like is a formal apology from this [redacted] womanI am not a liar, I was not raised that wayI work hard so that I can pay my billsNone of my other service providers have a complaint about me being nasty or lying about paying

I went to DSS in early January for assistance with my utilities due to starting a new job and having to pay for uniforms and childcare. I got assistance in the amount of $200. The same day the assistance was approved I called the Town of Pinetops utility division to see what I needed to do since I got help with my utilities that month. The woman I spoke with was an older woman, she stated that I did not need to do anything, she explained to me that my bill would be paid, the funds would be deposited to my account, but she did not know when, and that my next bill would high because they did not know when they would receive the funds, but I would not be cut off because it was considered paid. So the cut off date for the month came and went (if you don't pay the bill by the cutoff date your services will be terminated the same day). So my services were not terminated in January because the bill was considered paid. So February got here and I paid that bill in full, even $10 extra because I was running late for work and could not wait for the change. So the very next day I am out running errands and I end up coming home around 3 pm. A few minutes after settling in and trying to wash a few dishes and starting to cook the lights go out. I call the town to see what the issue is, and a woman named [redacted] (she is the hispanic looking lady) tells me that I owe $197 on my bill and I told her I just brought in $220. So I go down there and right away she has an attitude. I told her that DSS paid the bill for January so where are the charges coming from. She argued with me and insisted that I was lying about the whole thing. I had to go home and get the paper that proved they were paying my bill. And I told her that the woman I spoke with had told me I didn't need to bring in a paper or anything back in January. She still told me I was lying about the whole situation, and she looked angry and ticked off because I actually had the paper saying that DSS was paying. I have never felt so disrespected. I get along with any and everyone, but she was so nasty, I will never step foot inside that building again, especially if she is there. My lights were cut back on, and she acted like she didn't want to make the call, but she did. But my question for her was, if I didn't pay my utilities in January, or called down there right after leaving DSS and spoke to someone from Town of Pinetops why weren't my utilities cut off in January when they were supposed to be cut off? All I would like is a formal apology from this [redacted] woman. I am not a liar, I was not raised that way. I work hard so that I can pay my bills. None of my other service providers have a complaint about me being nasty or lying about paying.
