We contracted with Traavco Construction to remodel our masterbathWe requested bids from different companies and out of the three, Traavco excelled in quick response, details and costAt project execution at our home, the work was completed in the estimated timeframe, was of great quality and the workers *** and *** were super nice and detail oriented craftsmenThe work site was cleaned up each evening and our home had only minimal disruption with the amount of work the project entailedIt was a pleasure doing business with Traavis and crew and we highly recommend his company Traavco Construction for just about any home remodelling needsWe will actually "sole source" Traavco without going through the bid evaluation process for our next planned project

thanks for the granite work the opening between living room and kitchen makes a big differencewas a great idea and inexpensive to make me fall in love with that space again

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 9, 2014/06/04) */
This matter was successfully resolved

This is an abbreviated post from my 4th quarter 2014 review, however since I cannot find it on the Revdex.com site, I am reposting so other good citizens of Tulsa are not ripped off by the Traavco Construction Company. I contracted for a bathroom total gut & remodel in August 2014 and received very poor workmanship on nearly everything completed. The final price was higher than the original bid and much higher than other local construction companies. I have more cracks, leaks, and problems now than before Traavco Construction began demo on my bathroom. I regret selecting this company to complete my remodel and hope this prevents others from making the same bad choice I did.

Traavco Construction was to complete a total bathroom gut and remodel. Although we were shown a copy of a written esimate, we never received a paper copy; nor did we receive a budget for materials we needed to pick out such as tiles, light fixtures, etc. The only amount communicated to us was the overall cost of the job of which we paid half before the job began.

The job was scheduled to be done in 10 days however the toilet was to be installed within 3 days since our home only has one bathroom. Demolition was completed on Wednesday, July 23, 2014; the toilet wasn’t installed until Thursday, July 31st. Although we stayed in a family member’s home for a few days while they were out of town, we did have an added expense of a 2 day hotel room. For this inconvenience and additional cost to us, Traavco did not apologize or offer to pay.

Overall there wasn’t much attention to detail or precision throughout the job. Owner, Traavis Luerssen became somewhat defensive when we voiced concerns throughout the remodeling job. Although he acknowledged our concerns, he apparently chose to do nothing about them.

Old tile was removed and when new sheetrock was installed seams were not smoothed out. Mud and tape lines are apparent even after painting. There is still an open crack where the wall and the shower bench meet. A one inch chunk of sheet rock was broken and missing from below a light switch receptacle cover and was fixed only after we brought it to Traavis Luerssen’s attention.

The new window sill and frame are not asymmetric and weren’t well painted. The underneath side of the frame (facing the floor) was never painted. Nail holes were not plugged and painted properly.

The paint job throughout the room does not look professional. There is wall paint on some of the trim and floor tile. There was also paint tracked on the hardwood floors of my home and front porch.

The vanity was enlarged in depth from the wall without authorization causing an already narrow room to have less space. The front of the base cabinet is constructed differently on each end. The paint job on the vanity is unprofessional and appears to only have received one coat. Vanity drawers continue to stick shut. Doors under the sink are not properly aligned and don’t completely shut. There was no mention of the hardware for the vanity not being included in the quoted price, so another out of pocket expense for us.

We were advised by Traavis Luerssen to order granite and a sink for the vanity (that were also not included in the job cost) and that he would coordinate installation with the granite company. When it was time for the granite to be installed, it became our responsibility to coordinate installation around Traavco’s remodeling schedule. After the countertop and sink were installed, Traavis Luerssen called to ask who would be hooking up the plumbing to the sink. This I assumed was included in the original estimate especially since water lines and faucets in the shower were moved by Traavco and reconnected without question or additional charge. Traavco did the plumbing to sink connection but also charged an additional fee over and above the original estimate.

The stone shower floor doesn’t drain properly. At our request Traavco removed some of the stones and elevated the corners. They threw the used stones away and replaced them with what were originally extra stones. Unfortunately there weren’t enough extra stones so only 3 corners were raised. And due to the shortage of stones, they are spaced apart/patterned unevenly compared to the rest of the floor. Cement buckets used in raising the shower pan were then cleaned out to a bed of English ivy alongside my house where cement hardened to the ground.

When showering, hot water is minimal; at best lukewarm. The shower floor, curb, and bench, all continue to hold water and spill over onto the bathroom floor. Different contractors have advised all should have been built at an angle to allow water to flow towards the shower floor drain.

Final walk through was Saturday, August 9th. A quoted 10 day job had turned into an 18 day job. I advised Traavis Luerssen we weren’t going to pay the other half of the quoted price until a shower door was installed. For the first time throughout the remodeling job he informed us he didn’t install glass shower doors…and yet another added expense to this project.

Although not truly satisfied with the final product, we paid the final bill which included additional charges for the vanity sink plumbing hook up, budget overage for the new toilet, budget overage for new tiles, and some subfloor repair. With out of pocket expenses included, this remodeling job cost 22% more than the original quote!

Traavco Construction’s workmanship was very poor and customer satisfaction is obviously not a priority. This company was higher priced then others with similar bids. And buyers beware, although Traavco advertises they take credit cards, they don’t and of course we didn’t find that out until we tried to pay the final bill.
