Trac Performance Reviews (1)

Review: This is an interesting story that ive been dealing with for quite a while. Figured I would let all of the TW members to beware of this COMPANY. They promise something that is garage at best and do not deliver. Let me explain so that you will understand what im going on about. A month or so ago I commissioned TRAC PERFORMANCE to make me custom tube style bumper. At the same time they also had some Stock length lower control arms that they said were designed off of a Total chaos style platform and will work great. I was quite excited to get some new lower control arms and a new bumper so we worked out a deal. It was their first set of lowers so as you would expect there might be some tweaking, but they assured me that they were just as good as total chaos and mount the same. That is the first part. Then there is the Tube Style bumper. In getting this job underway I was told that I would have a 2in tube bumper and it would be a little similar to one that [redacted] had made. In the process of his build I was looking closely as minus the valance and couple other things like aluminum plating for the skid, and the 2 sides the shell would be very similar. After looking at the work they did on his truck I was satisfied that they would do a good job. Also since I now have a 2014 truck the light hoop would follow the line of the grill. so a coupe minor changes but in my opinion could be very noticeable. I also explained I had seen some bad versions of the side skid plates and wanted to make sure they could get this done correctly. I was assured that they could. The bumper was shown to me and I noticed that one side looked shorter than the other. I wasn't sure if it was just me so I asked if tis was normal or is it just me. I was told "It is only an 1/8th of an inch out." I though I must of had good eyes to see that small of a difference and the fiberglass fenders may of made it look that way. The next day I received my lowers and bumper within the next 3 days I believe. Maybe 2 but I think it was 3. Anyways I first noticed that the uppers were sitting very low, and the CV's were a little maxed out. So I brought this to their attention and was told this is how it came in the shop. Later in the conversation was told that the lower is raised an inch so the coilover would have to be adjusted to bring it back down. Do to no room in the shop I couldn't leave it there so I took it home. I was told they would let me know when they could lower them but it should be fine until then. I understand they were backed up and people were waiting for there stuff to be done. I had another car so it wasn't a big deal to get it done right away, but needed it done at some point. I didn't never get a call so I went over and asked them if we could get this done. 3-4 days later. They told me it would be the next day as they had no room to do it at that time. I also explained to them that I was having it line xed and told them I would leave the tabs alone so the skids would line up like it was designed. The bumper was then taken to LINEX SAN DEIGO, where DALLAS was spraying the bumper. I got it back and put it on the truck to realize what I was told was a 1/8 of an inch was actually a 1/2". This made a lot more sense to me now as I figured an 1/8th of an inch should not be noticed like that. I then took the truck back over to TRAC to find out if it can be replaced. If the LINE X had to be ground off and an end piece added to make it seem correct then I can re linex it later. Once the bumper was back I brought it back over to trac to have them mount the skid plates they had made. Right away I saw that the skids were cut wrong or something was off. At the time I didn't know what it was. I was told "the skids were cut on the CNC were exact replicas so they couldn't be off." It wasn't until I started looking and noticed the hole that was made directly in the center for the front facing camera was off center. Again I was told that "it was cut on the plasma table and designed on their program so it was directly centered." I finally said ok well we need to oblong the hole a little because it doesn't look center and by looking at the design from the front of the truck the hole was centered to the skid but the skid wasn't center on the truck. This is didn't find out until a few days later. I left again and this time headed back down to handle some other business with a truck tool box I was having DALLAS Line X. Me was walking back from a MATCO truck and asked me when I was going to finish getting the bumper fixed so he can re LINE X it. I told him what else did I have to do. His reply was "the light hoop it to one side." I told him huh. With everything else going wrong I was curious to see what he was talking about. Was there something ELSE I had missed? I knew the skids were not right but I didn't see anything else that was wrong with the bumper, but was also never about 30 feet away walking to my truck either. I walked where he was standing and noticed 2 things. One, he was right that the light hoop was off about an inch to one side, and wasn't centered on the truck, and 2 the frame horns that were cut on the plasma table and welded up were funny looking. At this time I still didnt know what was wrong. This isn't something I knew a lot about. So I go back to trac and ask them why the light hoop was off and the frame horns do not look correct. I was told "this is an offroad bumper and is handmade, you can expect some differences." I was also told that "They have spent enough time on this truck and will not fix anything else. I asked them what do you mean? This is your work and your name. Why wouldn't you fix the mess up? I was then told that im picky and they couldn't spend anymore time on this bumper and either keep it or return the bumper and get my money back and they will sell these to someone else. Now fDesired Settlement: He was given 1000 cash and only wanted to return 600 and told me to get lost for the most part.
