We replaced the roof on 3/21/2017. The homeowner sent a photo of some debris on his bathroom floor and the skylight above. He assumed that the roofing crew had done something to the skylight. We went and inspected and found that the top dome was cracked and that the bottom dome was fine, (it is a double dome skylight). In between the two domes was a lot of debris including decaying oak leaves. There were not leaves on the trees, so the oak leaves had been in between the two domes for some time, evidence that the top dome had been broke for a while. My salesman and I decided we would replace the domes anyhow to avoid a dispute. We had to special order the dome and when it came in, we went over and replaced both the dome pieces. We sent the final bill to the homeowner, and then he said that we took the hook that opened his skylight, (which there is no way we could have as it was inside his home and we had never been inside his home). I offered to meet him and go up on his roof and show him what we did and how the skylight works. He started to yell and swear at me and hung up on me. After a few days I decided to reduce his bill just to get this job behind me. He agreed and the job is paid in full.

The fact is, we did not break the skylight. It was broke prior to our roof job. We replaced the domes at no charge to the homeowner and we used the proper ones. The homeowner refused to meet me on the roof so I could show him how it worked and what we had done. In the homeowners own photo that he sent us, you can see the leaves between the two domes and that the hook is missing. No one had been in his home. As far as the gutters, the extension had blown off and in a wind storm and we went right over and put it back on. We did not put a screw in this extension so it could be removed for snow removal. If homeowner had asked we could easily had put a screw in it.
