Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because: Trailers Northwest has not said they would pay for the damages to the trailer? They did say they would not have a problem servicing this trailer for these issues, however I live hours away in Boise, ID - it is not practical for me to bring the trailer up to Seattle, WA to have them service it. I have taken the trailer to a trailer company here and they said it would take a couple hundred dollars to fix the trailer. The main reason I did not call them immediately or turn around and bring it back to their shop was because of the poor customer service I received when I was there picking up the trailer. *** tried her best, but it was very apparent she was new at selling trailers - a fact I confirmed when I asked her. *** and the other gentleman in the back, both acted like they were way too busy to help us (me). *** did ask them several questions and they answered them, but it was clear they were annoyed. I wanted to get on the road and get home on a Friday. I just knew, I would be there for most of the day if I went back or if they came over and looked at the trailer - which based on their previous behavior I did not think they would do...they would want me to bring it back to their yard. I have pulled quite a few trailers and could tell the coupler, chains and lights were OK. Even though the wiring was damaged, they still worked.Sincerely,** ***

** contacted TNW just before 5pm the day he picked up his trailer. He explained that his trailer came unhitched from the vehicle just after taking delivery, less than 2 minutes down the road from us, around 10am. When I spoke to **, and exchanged emails with him afterwards, I asked why I was not...

notified right away because I would have driven up the road to not only help get it back on the vehicle but also I would have inspected the trailer to ensure that it was indeed safe to continue to use and did not have any other damage or factory defects. I do not disagree that he would have been frazzled at what had taken place, only that we were not notified in a timely manner and given the opportunity to address and rectify the situation as it happened. Additional damage that can occur in an accident as described above can go well beyond a puncture in the front of the trailer: the internal coupler latch may be bent and not engage properly, the safety chains would be damaged and unsafe to continue to use after dragging on the ground to a stop from 35MPH, the wiring for the brake/turn/marker lights could also suffer damage from dragging on the road and lead to required lighting to be non-functional. I do not have a problem servicing this trailer for these issues as described but to be fair at the very least I should have been able to take 5 minutes to come inspect the damages, perform a quick inspection and get him back on his way with minimal delay ensuring that the trailer would not be endangering anyone on the road.

Trailers Northwest has provided reimbursement funds for the repair pertaining to this complaint. Mr. [redacted] had the repairs done at a facility of his choice. Trailers Northwest anticipates this complaint being removed as it has been fulfilled to Mr. [redacted]'s request.
