Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/04/07) */
It is important to note that travel insurance, which would have covered all medical costs in the first place, was offered to the client at the time of booking and the customer declined coverage
After it was determined the customer could
not travel we (Uncommon Journeys) agreed to change the passenger *** at no costThe $was a fee levied by the cruise line and not our companyIt is important to note that after all the time I spent calling Holland America line on customer behalf, we did not charge his credit card a pennyThe money/fees went directly to the cruise line as it was their charge and not oursIt in-correct saying it was us who charged him and this should reflect on his credit card
After customer enjoyed the cruise, I was called and informed he would effect a credit card charge back since he felt the fee, that he agreed upon, was excessive
I have no control over Holland America Cruise line name change fees, especially when they are so close to departure dateThe customer should actually have sent this complaint to Holland America line, not Uncommon Journeys since I spent hours working on the name change at no cost to the customer
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/04/11) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The cruise was not completely enjoyableThe trip was booked months in advance with the promise of a cabin upgrade because We were past customers of both Uncommon Journeys and Holland America, did'nt happenLuggage was lost, but don't worry they have cameras everywhere and You will have it by first port in daysThe final incident, upon arriving in Hawaii, finding out that the shore excursions were resold and the ship issued onboard creditThe Uncommon Journey tour guide on the trip was not much helpMy wife called me and said she had enough and wanted to fly homeI would expect a cash refund for $550.80, $and $airline ticket transfer chargeUncommon Journeys was my booking agent and made all my travel arrangements

I could give Uncommon Journeys no stars I would My best advice is to believe the other star reviews and ignore the star ratings as obvious plants by this company Do Not Travel With This Company! Any complaints to this company will only result in an insulting, demeaning and in my case a slanderous response back from their President, *** *** That's how they deal with passenger grievances, to insult you, attack your character and fabricate lies, in hopes you'll go away and crawl in a cornerTheir customer service is exemplary while taking your money and is non existent after they've got your dime in their pocketI was on the same tour, the West Coast Swing, as another star reviewer, ** *** I left after only days and after reading her review I'm thankful I left when I did If you enjoy being herded around, waiting as commanded in your seats and treated like grammar school children, then by all means book a trip with Uncommon JourneysFirst of all, I would suggest you look at their itinerary and book the trip yourself and save yourself the hassle and literally half the cost of going with them It would have been a far more pleasurable trip had I followed that advice myselfThis trip was overbooked by this greedy company people on a tour proved too much for the tour directors to handleWhen we arrive in Seattle aboard *** from San Diego, I knew we were in trouble I had no idea that the tour group would be that sizeThey had to split the group into two and bus them to different hotels, my hotel was nice, but the other group got robbed What a zoo it was separating luggage and peopleMy tour director *** *** was clearly overwhelmedThe next day we had on our own, which I enjoyed, until we had to meet in the lobby of the hotel for the so called 'Welcome Dinner' We waited around for both groups to convene and then as a large gaggle we were marched down the street a few blocks to a restaurant that unequipped to handle a group our size The dinner was inedible and took an extraordinary length of time to be served I got up and left before dessert It was ridiculousThe following day once again the gaggle of passengers had to sit around and wait to be bused to the wharf, just so we might know where to find our bus again in an hour, just to be bused again just a few blocks away to the clipper ship (barge) going to VictoriaWe arrived an hour prior to departure and were told to stand in line on the pier and in the hot sun with our carry-ons Nonsense, I went and found a place to sit in the shade That's an apparent no no, you have to stay glued to the gaggle The clipper broke down a mile out and we had to return to the pier for another wait, this time it was for hours! The gaggle was herded into a small stuffy room to wait it out I along with others broke away and found a restaurant not far from the pierOn return we found our group had been lined up in plastic chairs along the dock I was told to go sit in one of the chairs, I chose to stand beside my chair instead I was then commanded by *** *** ** *** *** to sit in my chair like a school childI still chose to stand That's when *** *** in her frustration tagged myself and my sister as intoxicated How utterly childish and complete nonsense this retaliation was! This is where *** *** our tour director should have stepped in and defended her passengersArrival in Victoria was at midnightAfter getting through customs they had only bus to take the gaggle to the hotel so some of our group was left sitting in the dark outside waiting for the bus to return after dropping off the other passengers and their luggage and return for usThis is when both my sister and I decided that it was intolerable to continue with this trip any longer The next morning we arranged for a flight home from Victoria***This is the most important thing I might add to this scathing review We never got a response from a letter we sent to *** ***, the CEO of Uncommon Journeys After several more attempts in communicating with this company via email The response that finally arrived from *** *** was the most insulting and unfounded letter I could have ever expectedTHIS COMPANY NEEDS TO BE PUT OUT OF BUSINESS!
