Trans One Moving & Delivery Services Reviews (1)

My most unfortunate move w/this co. was first wk of Apr. '16. Have held off writing neg. review as thought time would heal the sting of whole experience. It's now Aug., still exasperated as nightmare is recalled.
Hence, wish to share, in the interest of helping another.
Encountered owner and workers, as they were moving my neighbors. All looked good, efficient and neighbors gave thumbs up.
Was able to schedule move with them, tho was told due to conflicting schedules, my move would b squeezed in-between 2 already-scheduled moves. Meaning-
they would show up, load me eve. before, then drive to new location in AM to unload. ( Was moving from SF Bay Area to Sac. County)
Was told may need larger of 2 trucks. At the time, decided on smaller truck, as thought that would accommodate, plus less expense.
Day before move, realized I probably needed larger truck. Called owner for counsel. Said was unable to get rid of Amoire and wanted to take it with me. In his signature, most charming, comforting latin accent, he said "O I think it'll b fine. [redacted], don't worry. Let's see how it goes.. don't worry".Something to that effect.
Knowing nothing about such a large move ( was moving stuff of 35 yrs. 200 miles away), I did ask, "well, what if smaller truck is NOT lg enough?". He again, seemed to minimize concern, seeking to soothe my concerns, " [redacted], let's just see, ok? I want to save u money. We'll be there Thurs. @ 5" I even pointed out to him that if truck wasn't lg enough, I would b left with stuff I needed to pack into some other's truck, costing me more money AND inconvenience, after initial move.
Clearly this was not a conversation he wanted to have, quickly uttering,
"let's just see,ok?" and I got off the phone, just choosing to believe he'd come through,(wrong) if ran into snag.
First off, he showed up at 4PM , not the scheduled 5, barreling in, like a fast train running behind schedule.
Then, tho had already impressed upon him the importance of letting me secure safety for my new kitty, who was still a bit skiddish, he was ordering his guys all around the apt., my cat clearly traumatized as he tore in panic, from room to room seeking some refuge.
At 4:45PM, owner announced "done", leaving at least 1/3 of my stuff for me to deal with stating,
"ok -gotta get on the road, beat the traffic"...
Well, I don't know where he was going - perhaps squeezing in even another job into the larger truck, same eve. along with the one he was running to the next day after my move? For, anyone who has had any experience driving in the Bay Area, KNOWS, that 4:45PM is NOT beating any traffic!
So, there I was, sitting there, scratching my head, too overwelmed to think.
My part? Indeed, I was less prepared than I needed to be for move-day. Due to
already-physical limitations, I was also sick the whole week before, just dragging myself around doing best I could daily.
My brother came up from San Diego, move-day. We were working as fast as we could to purge apt. plus make sure essentials were packed and ready for move.
The rest, I would worry about later.
What the owner did by showing up early, was take that last essential hr. we needed
to further prioritize items. As a result, so many important-cannot-b-replaced- essentials were left behind, some to my great sadness trashed.
My brother and me had to to work furiously for the next 5 hrs., packing whatever we could, throwing out whatever, and getting on the road to Sac., to hotel, as we needed to be in new loc. for move-in @ 9AM following day.
Seems my brother, in haste and out own exhaustion dumped valuables, as no longer checking to see what was trash and what was not. Me? Limping by that point, with the knee and back issues, coughing and sputtering from bad cold, dizzy from the day's work, was at the point not even aware of what bro was doing.
Hence am without most precious jewelry items, not expensive, more importantly cannot-replace signature pieces used frequently to "make" and outfit, my 12-step recovery books, and last but not least, fave expensive black jeans... all apparently tossed out, in our haste and exhaustion.
Met up with owner following morning at new apt. building in Sac. county. Confronting the owner about nightmare owner left us with, he smiled, condescendingly, while laughing said "[redacted], I was trying to save you money!"... He apparently thought my hysterics were quite humorous.
I was beside myself, emotionally, physically unbalanced from the whole event. Quickly accepted I'd best just be polite and get on with it, as did not wish
to tempt any damage to stuff being moved, swallowed my angst, etc. let them finish job and paid remainder of moving cost.
The money he was saving me? Ha!
I, now in Sacramento county, had to rent an SUV from here, $132+, plus gas, spent hrs. on road to SF peninsula and back, pack up what I could fit, ultimately got charged by landlord/owner $300 for dumping fee - as was unable to fit everything into SUV.
There's more, but not necessary, except to say that this move was not one I had chosen out of wanting to move. I was moving to more affordable area, as after 22yrs. in apt., recent owners started giving notice-to-vacate letters to long-standing tenants, intent on substantial rent increases.
This move just resulted in that added kick in the butt, after an already-harrowing few mos, forced out of home, search for new one, etc.
Shame on the lack of respect and assistance from /Trans One I'd relied on.
Will close by giving most deserved honorary mention to son of owner. He was quintessential lead mover, and saw the need and sought to meet it. As he dad was trying to be done with whole loading of truck, etc., and I'd ask to load one more thing? His son found a way. God bless him for being a flicker of a light in an otherwise so very dark time. Just his calm and caring presence also soothed my nerves, after very little sleep, etc., day of move-in.
