[redacted] is complaining that she was charged $9.45 for mileage on 11/**/14. Our ambulance responded to a call to take [redacted] from her Dr's office to the ER at Montefiore Hospital. The trip was less than a mile drive but as all ambulance companies do, we charge per mile. We do not charge by a...

tenth of a mile. Our normal billing rate is $9.45 a mile, which is well within the best practice scope of NY Ambulance Billing. [redacted] seems to only be complaining about our mileage charge. Not our transport charge which was $551.25, which is again, well within best practice scope of NY Ambulance Billing. If [redacted] calls us to say she cannot afford the bill, we'd be happy to work something out with her. As of today, we have not heard from [redacted], other than her telling us she was waiting for her health care card.

I am writing this email because my father-in-law is being discriminated by TransCare of New York. The company has stated they can no longer pick him up due to his weight and would need to find other ways of travel to and from his much needed doctors appointments.

He has been using this company for years now and this is the first time that this issue has came up. He feels bad the way it is and these comments have made him feel worse. He has now missed a few very important medical appoints. When he tries to get transportation by the company he is told that they will pick him up, only to have them cancel the day of the office visit.

He has several different medical issues currently ranging from [redacted], and also [redacted], This is why he needs to have the transportation in the first place. The diseases are getting worse and he is no longer able to work nor drive or live a normal life.

I am not sure what needs to be done hence my email. I am hoping if I email enough and/or the right people this discrimination would stop. He is in no way heavy due to eating but rather to his medication and diseases. Please help, Thank you,

Review: I received 2 bills from them, same claim #, same DOS, one reflects entire cost of service, the other reflects medicare payments they received, neither had my online payment recorded. I have the receipt from that online payment, where I entered the correct claim #. then I receive a letter from collection agency, which does not have my online payment or the medicare payments they received. when I called them, the person on phone was not listening, cutting me off constantly, and said there's another bill from earlier in 2015 which I never received.I would like to see their medicare claims and verify everything is legitimate. from these bills it seems like they are paid by medicare AND the patient. which is fraud.Desired Settlement: I would like to see their medicare claims and verify everything is legitimate. from these bills it seems like they are paid by medicare AND the patient. which is fraud. I am willing to pay for what is not covered by medicare, but they do not deserve double payments, profiting from medical emergencies.

Review: On 11/**/14, I was at the Montefiore Hospitals at [redacted] when I was having chest pain. My doctor decided that I should go to the emergency room. She advised me that to be on the safe side, I should take the ambulance. The ambulance sent me to the nearest emergency room at [redacted]. This Transcare Company charged me $560.70. The company claims that the mileage accumulated or accrued was 9.45 miles per hour. When I typed in the distance between the two places via [redacted] by car it takes 0.3 miles, two minutes to get from [redacted] to [redacted] via driving a vehicle. Walking distance, it takes all of six minutes. I was unfairly charged for the services provided to me and I want justiceDesired Settlement: I am expecting to be charged for the 0.3 miles only.

I still think the ambulance fee is way too much. And I did call and speak with a representative, and they only wanted to take $80 off. My insurance is not paying for it, and I can't afford a bill that high, for a few minutes in a ambulance.

[redacted] has been sent multiple statements about the balance of her bill. She refuses to pay the bill because she states it's too much. We could have worked out a payment plan with her if she wanted to. As of now, her claim has been referred to a Collection Agency. If she wants to make a payment, she can work with them. We tried working with [redacted] but she has not responded to numerous bills from us. Just because [redacted] doesn't think it's worth the amount of money, doesn't mean she should not pay it. She used our service and we charged her for our services rendered. As mentioned in our previous response, our rates are comparable to every ambulance company rates in the industry and in NY specifically. We are actually on the lower side of billing rates. Our position is that we tried to work with [redacted] and she doesn't want to pay what is due us. We have done nothing wrong.
