Transport Training Centres Of Canada Reviews (%countItem)

Training for back in training was not in line with new *** guide lines
In August I took a road test for my Class A license that I was never properly trained for, after coming out of the Transport Training Center. During my 4 weeks in the truck I was never informed by the instructors of changes to the back in that would take effect on July 1st. Because of these changes made to the 90 degree back in maneuver - I was never prepared for the road test and was never able to practice a tight alley back in as laid out as a requirement for the road test by *** and ***. *** says that they work closely with both *** and ***, but they completely failed to notify students of these changes prior to July 1st but test after - for when these changes take effect.

The diagram that shows the space given for a 90 degree road test that should have been available to the *** prior to July 1st shows a maximum apron space of 110ft, much less than I was ever trained for. Moreover, with my time in the truck I was only tasked to back in to two different 90 degree back ins, the *** parking area and the intersection of *** and ***, neither of which properly simulate a tight alley back in with minimal pull ahead like the one on the test. *** also informed me that the *** regularly takes students to the space where the back in is performed and they have no issue with that, so it is puzzling to myself, why I was never given the opportunity to practice in the space during my course time.

Because of these circumstances that I have detailed, I am requesting a full refund for the amount that I have paid for training from the school. I will not be able to pursue a career in trucking because of all the lost time I have endured due to receiving inadequate training from this institution.

The *** has reached out to me to offer a pittance 2 free hours of training, compared to the 260hrs of training that I received over 6 weeks. They are doing nothing to rectify the lost time for the entire 6 weeks of class time/on the road training where I was given wrong information by their instructors. Or the cost of the road test that I was setup for failure for.

Transport Training Centres Of Canada Response

Initial Business Response /(1000, 5, 2017/09/26) */
The complainant successfully completed and passed our 6 week *** on June 30th 2017. This course provides the necessary training to pass the *** road test at ***. We are not allowed to guarantee that the candidate will pass the *** but we offer the next best thing which is unlimited use of our truck and trainer for any additional road test should one be required at no charge (a $500 value for any additional attempt). A certificate was issued to him on July 10th. Proof of his completion of the *** was also uploaded to the ***.

We provided a truck for him to use for the road test on July 7th. He successfully passed the Z endorsement portion of the test and did receive that endorsement on his ***. He stated that he did not feel comfortable with backing a particular way so we offered 2 free hours of additional training specific to his concern and unlimited use of our truck for any further road tests.

On September 6th 2017 the complainant communicated to us via email (***) that he no longer wished to pursue his *** license, and that he did not want to take advantage of our offer of free training because he has found employment elsewhere. We feel that we have gone above and beyond of what was expected of us and have earned our tuition.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /(3000, 7, 2017/09/27) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
In regards to your response,

You state that "This course provides the necessary training to pass the *** road test at ***."
- That cannot be true when students are not taught to do a tight alley docking. Or at least were not for the 260 hours that I was taking this course.

You also state that I "no longer wished to pursue his *** license, and that he did not want to take advantage of our offer of free training because he has found employment elsewhere."
- That is very far from the truth. In the message I addressed to the *** office and in my complaint here I have made it clear: "I will not be able to pursue a career in trucking because of all the lost time I have endured due to receiving inadequate training from this institution."
This experience has put a financial strain on my personal behalf as I have had to pay for tuition that was never fulfilled properly and road tests that I was never trained for properly.

I would love to continue on with my license, but your communication has put little faith in your company. If the *** cover the costs of my training with another business I would be happy to do a full re-training from a company that instructs students to the standards laid out by the ***.

Final Business Response /(4000, 9, 2017/10/04) */

Our *** curriculum had been approved by the ***. Meaning it meets the guidelines they have laid out for an individual to attempt a road test.

That being said we offered 2 additional hours of training before the next road test attempt in goodwill. This along with the free use of truck and trainer equates to a value of $500 dollars. A higher amount than what the consumer is requesting back.

In my previous response I had submitted the e-mail I have from the consumer where he declines the offer of additional training and states that he is no longer interested in perusing truck driving. The offer for 2 hours of additional training still stands if the consumer would like to take advantage of it.

Final Consumer Response /(4200, 11, 2017/10/12) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
At this time I am replying to this case to keep the complaint open.

I am not satisfied with the resolutions offered by the *** as they are not taking responsibility for their duty to teach their students to current *** guidelines. Or for the 260hrs I spent in class and on the road and received inaccurate information and training in regards to the backing procedure for the requirements set by ***.

I have forwarded this information to the *** on October 5, 2017.
