My spouse [redacted] went to TREC (TALLAPOOSA River Electric Coop) today 2/11/14 on or about 11 am to dispute an overpriced bill we received in the mail on 2/10/14 she was told that due to the temperatures being low in our area tenants with high bills where charged weather adjusted consumption in other words they came up with their own charges without even bothering to check the meters. They blatantly stated that meters where not checked and they went by what they assumed we consumed. Our heat was not functioning for over 1 month and electric blankets were used to keep ourselves warm due to having our heating unit out of service. So if my heat was out for over a month where are they getting that we consumed over $400 dollars when my bill is usually an average $250 a month. They asked her how were we heating up and she explained with heating Blankets at night she also explained that we are northerners and are used to the cold weather so what they want to blame for our spike due to cold weather we are already used to. Also other tenants where at the office arguing about the same issue and left very unhappy since there was no resolve.
