Client came to our Millwoods office bare handed to get her few years taxes done and we said we surely can help you to get the Tinformation
from CRA website if you authorize us to deal with CRAShe did sign and we filed the authorization with CRA but unfortunately it went on hold for further verification and we did not get access to her account at the same timeThis does happen in many cases when taxpayer did not file taxes for so many years or taxpayer mail coming back to CRA or there could be some other reason and in this case only taxpayer can call CRA and can get informationWhile sitting in our office she called CRA and was unable to provide her previous address(s) to CRA which she used to file previous years taxes and even was not able to provide any her past employment information, since, CRA agent refused to give her any information on her account and she left
We told her to wait for couple of weeks to see if we get the authorization since it was on hold and was checked later that we did not get it, so we were helpless to help her in order to get her Tinformation from CRA website
This is client responsibility to bring the T4's and other information in order to prepare the tax returnClient cannot make us responsible for their negligence that they cannot even get the tax slips information from CRAShe can go back to the accountant where she filed taxes previously and he might can help her if he has her authority already
Our part of job is to prepare the taxes not collect documents on client's behalfIf she bring the paperwork and we will help her to file taxes
