On moday, with our moving truck en route, we were unpleasantly surprised with a "ADDENDUM" and subsequently, a unit that had garbage from the previous tenant and was not cleanedWe cleaned the unit ourselves and decided not to dwell on the initially negative experience
Service calls were generally good during our tenancy, and we expect that because we were model tenants, having always paid rent early or on time
When we gave a lengthy notice of our intent not to renew our lease, we were provided with move-out instructions which were fine, except for the demand to commercially clean our carpetWe are people of dignity and were determined to leave our unit in immaculate condition, even though we inherited a messy unit in a dishonest way
My wife is pregnant so we hired Green Clean in Gainesville at a cost of $My wife and I cleaned WITH their team of people, and we made the unit shineWe even patched nail holes in the wall that were not of our own doing
Over days after moving out, we received part of our deposit back, LESS $without any detailed explanation, and they also insulted us by charging us for the certified letter
We objected -with prejudice- via certified mail to their unfounded claimThey failed to respondInstead of filing a lawsuit, I called and attempted to settleTheycalled back and agreed to give us the rest of the deposit but still insisted the unit was dirty, but avoided explaining how or where it was dirtyTHEY COULDN'T EXPLAIN HOW OR WHY BECAUSE IT WAS NOT DIRTY
I understand that many tenants complain when a landlord withholds their deposit, even though the landlord's reason often has meritIn our case, we felt victimized because their attempt to withhold our deposit was simply unfounded, unethical, and potentially illegal
Our experience of being talked down to by a staff member (who clearly lacks any customer service skills whatsoever) was absolutely outrageous
As a property owner myself, I would never trust Trend Management Solutions because they went out of their way to make us unhappy, and I wouldn't want an unhappy tenant in control of my valuable propertyShame on you, TrendShame on you
