Unfortunately, I discovered that Trento has a very shady and undocumented policy of secretly transforming any deposits into "non-refundable" deposits
My wife and I visited this restaurant on a Tuesday night to explore the possibility of hosting a party there the following Sunday (days later)We liked the package offered and asked the manager to hold the table until we could come back with more detailed information about our party arrangementsWe were told that they would require a $deposit to hold that reservationWe put the $charge on our credit card
We soon discovered that this restaurant had recently been cited by the Suffolk County Health Department for the presence of *** *** (on numerous days) and decided that this was no longer the ideal place for us and our guests to dine atLess than hours after I gave them a $deposit, I called Trento back and told them of my plans to cancel the eventIt was only at that time that we were told that our deposit was non-refundable!
I told the manager that we were not informed of this policy at the time of our deposit nor was it posted anyplace nor did we sign any contractThe only paper we signed was the credit card receipt! My argument fell on deaf ears as the manager just smiled and repeated the no-refund policyI was offered $worth of Gift Cards to come back and eat in this filthy restaurant!
I immediately called the credit card company and put a hold on any payment to this restaurantI was assured that I would not be charged anything and Trento would not collect anything! Remarkably the next day I received a phone call from the manager telling me that they decided to reverse their policy (just this one time) and give me a $credit on my credit cardWhat a coincidence!
Through my dealings with Trento, I learned that they are not a very reputable or honest company to deal withLast month, the Health Department discovered that their restaurant was un-clean and now I discovered that they are just as un-clean in the way they do businessI would never visit that restaurant again and would recommend to others that they approach any dealings with Trento very carefullyResearch the meaning of the word "unscrupulous" and it defines Trento perfectly!
