Initial Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2016/07/29) */
The customer brought the vehicle in because it would not shift gears. Upon inspection our people found that the gear shifter was in pieces, apparently someone had been working on it and took the shifter apart. We installed a new shifter and the...

transmission shifted ok. We didn't do anything that would affect the steering. I asked our service manager to call the customer and have her bring in the vehicle for inspection. He called her and asked her to let us inspect the vehicle to see what the problem was. She said she couldn't talk but she would call him about 3:30. The customer didn't call back. He called her again yesterday (7-28-16), someone else answered the phone and said she had packed up and moved out of town and she was no longer available at that number. Our service manager tried another number and the same person answered.
I don"t believe our service department caused her steering problem but I would be happy to inspect the vehicle again free of charge. If we in fact caused a problem we will certainly repair it.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 8, 2016/08/04) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The general manager informed me after paying them 700 dollars that my car was no longer drive able. I in fact only needed a gear shift replacement but upon arrival and after payment I was told this. Stunned, I couldn't understand how a gear shift replacement ended up as ' your car is no longer drive able" . ZI was at work when Vince called me and had to go away on business for a few days. ZI did return their call and they wanted me to bri in my car. I was treated so badly the first time and their " Oh well" attitude I was very reluctant to take my car back. Now after the whole establishment told me my car was no longer drive able I have since driven my car back and forth with no issues, of course after we left Tri city we immediately went to our local mechanic to undo the damage Tri City had done to my car and brushed of as " your car is no longer drive able. Now mind you. ZI could not afford the 700 dollar price tag so it had taken me almost a month to pay the bill in which my car sat on their lit...upon final payment of my bill, I have been there numerous times, they day the car is no drive able and the wheel won't turn .What!....that had not to do with a gear shift. Absolute unprofessional and I paid another mechanic to fix my power steering column...I drove the car in just fine, they had to drive the car as well and nothing was said over a course of a month no one called to say there was a problem other than a gear shift replacement.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 10, 2016/08/15) */
We are sorry Ms [redacted] had a problem with her vehicle. We tried to get her to let us inspect the vehicle free of charge and she has declined. She says in her response dated August 4th that she needed a gear shift replacement. That is what we did, replaced the gear shift and that is what we charged her for. I don't believe we should reimburse her for repairs that we actually made and she has acknowledged. I believe it is unreasonable for Ms [redacted] to ask us to do a refund based on conjecture without the ability to inspect the vehicle. I would request that you please remove this complaint from our file.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2015/06/30) */
The vehicle in question is a 2002 model with 163859 miles. It has extensive rust underneath and on the wheels. Along with needing to replace the rear wheel cylinders and drum brakes, three studs had to be drilled out due to rust. The repair was...

completed. A few days later the customer complained the brakes were overheating and locking up. we towed the vehicle in and repaired the problem at no expense to the customer. The vehicle was brought in again for the same problem and we discovered the hand brake and cable to be the cause and needed replacing. The customer was informed and said he would do the repairs himself. The customer then experienced the problem with the extensive corrosion and broke off one or more studs trying to remove the wheels. At that point the customer blamed our service dept and wanted the further repairs completed for free. We declined.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 8, 2015/07/01) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Their inability to train their personnel on the proper use of tools is why the lug nuts were rounded off on the wheels resulting in me having to
to drill out the lugs on this wheel. Also in replacing the parking brake cables this did not fix the problem. These are supposed to be well trained mechanics and apparently can't do a simple brake job. If they couldn't do the job, they should have told me. Yes, there was corrosion but I haven't had problems removing the wheels before. Also there is still an overtightened lug nut on the front wheel that I haven't addressed yet. I still want my money back for their poor attempt of a brake job. Going on 2 months now that I can't drive the vehicle. I don't want they to try to repair it again because they are incompetent. I will make sure that everyone I know never goes to this auto dealer for anything unless they refund my money.
