Tri-City Towing & Auto Repair-Used Cars Reviews (2)

Review: I took my 2000 Ford Mustang 3.8L V-6 Standard to tri city auto for transmission diagnostics and repair along with window and door realignment and repairs. the agreed upon price of the service was $200. The "repairs" took a month and a half long to complete, most of said time the vechile sat untouch in the lot. after numerious pohone calls thru out the time the car was there the actual work begain. I was told one issue after another was wrong with the transmission and the previous issue was falsely diagnosed. after purching a number of different parts to replace the "falsely diagnosed" parts I was given a diangoses that a new clutch cable would solve all problems. I purched and delivered the part and it was installed. apon pick up the car had a distinct metal on metal grinding noise that I was mislead to believe was a shock or brake issue. I paid above origional price agreed upon amout of $200 and piad an amount of $250 for the repairs. I purched new brakes, rotors and calipers for the front passenger side and installed them to remove the grinding noise. the new parts did not resolve the issue. I had the vechicle instected my [redacted] T[redacted] and [redacted] and both shops have concluded the transmission in my vechicle is where the sound is comming from. upon contacting Tri City Auto Repairs I was told they are not willing to resolve the problem and that they are not covering any work they performed, however I could drop the car off in the morning and they will do repairs when they were able to get to if for additional service charges, was made aware that the vechicle would sit in their lot of no less than 3 weeks before they could spare time to work on it. they continue to refuse to correct their mistakes in the initial diagnostic and repairs of the transmission. The Window and door were not touch and the issue are still oviously present.Desired Settlement: I would like an agreement made thru Tri City Auto Repairs to cover the cost of repairs needed by another Repair Shop. I would personally like to take my vechicle to [redacted] and all costs paid by Tri City Auto Repair.

Window and door repairs will go to a locally accredited repair shop and cost cover by Tri City Auto.

Response:

This is Tri City’s response to ID# [redacted] for [redacted]. First thing is [redacted] did not bring his 2000 Ford Mustang for a transmission issue he brought it to us because he installed a clutch on his Mustang himself incorrectly. The work he did was very unprofessional and he left bolts and pieces off of the final installation and could not get the vehicle to run. We were trying to help him out with an issue he caused by not knowing what he was doing. We told him it would not be a priority and did not give him a deadline. He was also down here on the lot when we worked on his vehicle and we never said we would do anything with his window. Tri City only charged total $200 for the repairs, we charged $80 for the part and $120 for the 2 hrs. the Mustang tied up one of our bays. When we finished the repairs for the clutch the Mustang was running like we committed to helping him with. There is no receipt or record on file from either party. This is just a simple issue with trying to help someone out with a mistake they made and them not being happy we couldn’t fix everything they did incorrectly for $200 and that replacing one part would make the vehicle run like they just bought it brand new. ThanksTri City

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The fact that I installed the clutch is not the issue, I have goverment and military training in mechanics as I was a 91b10 in the army which in lament terms is an all-wheel vehicle mechanic. I have sufficient practice and training to do the repairs I did. The issue is that I was unaware of an additional fault in the vechicle's transmission/drive line. Which is what lead to me contacting tri city auto to do the repairs. I am finding the blatant lies being told by the representative for tri city auto desturbing. When I spoke to [redacted], who is to my knowledge the lead mechanic and son of the owner, prior to towing my car to their shop the agreed price for diagnostics and repair would be $200.00. While the car was on their lot I stopped by a few time and spoke to [redacted] about the on going repairs, during which I was told it was one issue after another, on one such visit [redacted] and myself agreed on repairing and aligning the door and window of the driver side. The fact that tri city auto bought a part is a mute fact as I was told all those parts were returned and I was not being charged for them as I was told to buy the parts myself and bring them to [redacted] in an attempt to keep cost down. I would like the opportunity to change my desired outcome of this from payment for repairs at a different facility to refund and reimbursement, I was charged $250 for repairs by tri city auto and an aditional $45 by [redacted] bringing the total to $295.00. As I have been forced by time to pay for the required repairs myself. Thankfully [redacted] took pity on me for allowing a deceptive and neglectful technician to work on my vehicle, and only charged me a diagnostic fee of $45 to fix tri city auto's mistake. I was told that "there was a wire connector rubbing on metal, in plain sight that any half decent mechanic should have seen". A quote from the mechanic that inspected my car. The fact that no paperwork was writen up or provided to me or even offered should be clue enough to the shady dealings going on inside tri city auto, and brings into question their taxes and ligitamy of their business practices. To conclude this rebuddle there was an agreement to repair the wondow and door on the driver side, the price of $200 was agreed upon before the car was towed to the shop, and the fact remain that I was given a half working vehicle that could have cause a traffic incident. I would like a refund and reimbursement in the total of $295.00.

Regards,

Review: The car was towed to Tri City in June 2015. the mechanic called and stated it needed heads, which I believe are parts in the engine. The total charges quoted were $1400.00 with one year guarantee. After some time had passed I called and they relayed there were problems with finding parts. After more time passed, they stated the wrong parts were sent. I have made numerous calls and the car is still not repaired. I have already paid $900.50. I called last week 2/10/16 and the individual I spoke with was a new employee. He stated someone would call me back. No one has called to tell me the status of the repair.Desired Settlement: Car repair and written guarantee as I was told when they initially took the car, with no additional charges due to the length of time it has taken or reimbused to me the value of the car ($1800). This was my mother's car and bought new. It has approximately 67,000 miles.
