TriCom/Radio Shack is a drop-off location for UPS. On Wednesday, March 9, 2016 I mailed a package to California, telling the clerk that I needed to have it there by Saturday, March 12th. I was told that this required me to send it via "2 day air" at a cost of $69.91; regular mail would be $19.90. It was never mentioned that this was 2 BUSINESS day air. The package arrived in Piedmont, CA on Monday, March 14th. I immediately went to Radio Shack to ask for a refund of the additional $50 for the 2 day air. The owner/manager, Greg [redacted] was not available and I was told that I needed to contact UPS, where I was told that Radio Shack was responsible because I paid them. After several visits to Radio Shack, I was finally contacted by Mrs. [redacted], who told me I needed to talk to the owner, Greg [redacted], but he was not available at that time. When I finally was able to talk with Mr. [redacted], he was very rude and arrogant, telling me that all I could get was $10 good faith money. I told him I didn't want $10 because I was charged $50 for the service not received. I engaged the help of Judy from "Call for Action" from WISC-TV Channel 3 News. She spent much time talking with UPS and Greg [redacted], who hung the phone up on her saying she was not a lawyer and he didn't have to talk to her. He did tell her, though, that his clerk knew that the packages had already been picked up that Wednesday, which made it impossible for my package to be delivered by Saturday. He said the clerk had no responsiblity to tell me this. I contend that he should have told me. Mr. [redacted] wrote me a full page letter complaining about what a headache it was for him to be a drop-off location and how much he has done for the community and that he and his wife were both veterans. He sent me a $10 "good will" check, which I endorsed over to "Wounded Warrior Project" and told Mr. [redacted] that I thanked him and his wife for their service to our country and I would consider the missing $40 a donation to two local veterans (him and his wife), because I support veterans' causes on a regular basis, which is true.
