Tri Country Pool Construction Reviews (1)

Review: Tri-County Pools repaired/reinstalled our winter-damaged pool, and they also repainted our existing wood deck. They used the wrong product for repainting our deck. We had spoken about a deck restore paint and the contractor said that he used a thick gritty painted called "[redacted]". After comparing products in the store, I insisted that he use "[redacted]-It" because it had a lot less grit and was thinner. During the application of the first coat I noticed the thickness of the grit and questioned the contractor on it, and he verbally verified that he was using the "[redacted]" and that it was thicker than what he was used to ("[redacted]"). He suggested a second coat would even out the grit. While it did this, I was still not happy with the final look of the deck. The application of the paint was very uneven, making the deck look blotchy, and the grit makes the deck too rough, just like the product I did NOT want to use. I resolved to repaint it myself later with something smoother. After the whole job was completed, the leftover paint was tucked under our deck. When I finally moved the 3-gallon container, I discovered that it was the "[redacted]" product that I did NOT want used. I tried contacting the contractor about addressing the mistake, he was very abrupt and rude and unwilling to talk about the situation. He acted offended, offered me a take-it-or-leave-it small amount, and hung up on me. I have been unable to reach him since then. I have also noticed that there are pieces of debris trapped under the pool liner bottom, causing concern for eventually tearing through the liner. There are a lot of wrinkles and the sand wasn't packed very well under the liner bottom, causing a lot of divots. The paint job on the deck and railings is rather thin. The job wasn't the best quality and I find frustration with the contractor's demeanor now that he has his payment, considering this is his mistake. The product I asked for ("[redacted]") is listed in the contracted.Desired Settlement: Ideally I would like for the contractor to sand off/smooth down some of the deck grit and repaint with a simple deck paint, but concern over the quality of his work has me thinking the best option is for him to refund the cost of the wrong paint product ($280-$420 depending on how many containers used), and of renting a sander to smooth the deck ($50-$60) [$400+]. I would like a written guarantee on repair of a torn liner as a result of the trapped debris if the liner issues cannot be fixed.
