My name is *** and I foster dogs for a Bernese Mountain Dog rescue organization in ***. Dogs are taken into rescue for a variety of reasons and in some cases we are fortunate enough to have veterinary records that show the dog had its required vaccinations. Recently, I took in a male, 2-year-old, Bernese who was called "***" as a foster. *** name has been changed to "***." Fortunately, he came with a rabies certificate from Dr. ***, that confirmed *** had the 3-year vaccination in June of 2019. The previous owner (*. ***) was not able to provide any other medical records for *** (such as for the 1-year rabies, distemper, etc.). Since it does impact the rescue financially to provide the necessary vaccinations, as well as not good for the health of the dog if he/she has already had them, the rescue reached out to Dr. *** office to see if *** other records could be obtained. His office told the rescue they do not keep records for any of the animals they see in the office. That is an unusual business practice for a vet. So, I asked the vet to whom *** (***) is now going as a foster dog, which is Dr. *** at the *** Veterinary Hospital in *** if she could call Dr. *** office as she might have more luck since she is a vet. She, and the rescue coordinator at the facility, called several times and neither one was able to get through to anyone (there is no answering service as well). I too have called the office only to have the phone ring and ring yet, no answer. My only concern is for the health and well being of *** - if Dr. *** office could please respond by providing the dog's medical records, or at least call and speak to Dr. ***, it would be so greatly appreciated.
