Tri State Hearing Reviews (1)

Review: I purchased a set of custom made hearing aids from Beltone, at the cost of $7000.00. The left aid did not fit properly, so I had to constantly push it back in place. I notified the audiologist,at this time, it was a new audiologist I was dealing with. A new aid was made, but I had the same problem. On both occasions, the aid had fallen out of my ear without my realizing it. I only discovered they were missing when I went to remove them for the night. Another cast was made by the new audiologist, and I was informed that they would make up a new one from the new cast. The warranty for the aids would then be disallowed because they would apply the warranty of the good aid to the new one, and there would be no out of pocket money.I agreed to the resolution. Two days after the agreement, I received a call from my [redacted], [redacted] at ###-###-####, stating that if I wanted the new aid, I would have to pay $800.00, which I cannot afford. I live in a senior citizen complex, with limited fundsI feel that the company has reneged on the deal they offered.Desired Settlement: I would like Beltone to honor the resolution they offered, and replace the left ear hearing aid.I will then have no warranty on either aid.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The first audiologist to whom I was assigned was [redacted].She made the first mold for my ears. I was then out of the country for three months During that time the hearing aid for my left ear was lost. When I wet to remove the aids for the night, the left aid was missing. When I returned home, I notified the audiologist that the left aid had fallen out. She then hAd a second aid made. In the interim, [redacted] was replace with the audiologist [redacted]. She gave me the new aid. Again, the left aid fell out. Neither on had fit correctly. The next month(the audiologist comes to the senior residence once a month) I informed her that the new aid had again fallen out. Upon her next visit, she informed me that she would make a new mold, and that this would not cost me any money, because they would apply any warranty I had to this new aid, therefore forfeiting any warranty I had with the company. I agreed. Two dayss later, her [redacted], [redacted], called and advised me that if I wanted the new aid, I would have to pay 800.00.dollars.I informed her That I would not pay the 800.00 because their had been defective. I then decided to contact your bureau in hopes that this situation could be resolved.

Response:

My name is [redacted], [redacted] for Beltone New York. I would like to state that this patient purchased aids back in March of 2014 from [redacted], former employee of Beltone Hearing Aid Centers. [redacted] implied this was a purchase she made from [redacted] which is entirely false and attaching [redacted]’s name to this disparaging and false claim is completely inaccurate. [redacted] simply called and visited the patient on behalf of Beltone as a courtesy since [redacted] is no longer an employee of ours. [redacted] purchased aids and lost one within a couple months and we issued her a new aid at that point completely free of charge (waiving our Loss, Stolen or Damaged policy of 25% of purchase price). A couple months ago [redacted] lost the same aid again for the 2nd time and we contacted Beltone corporate on her behalf to see if we could use her remaining Loss and Damage policy on the alternate ear, they allowed her to submit a claim on the alternate ear as a courtesy. We then visited [redacted] in her home and we remade a mold of her ear and let her know it would be $800 to replace. Her original charge on the aids was $6400, the breakdown is as follows: $6400 for a set of hearing aids $3200 (price of one aid) $3200 x 25% = $800 (cost to replace missing aid) [redacted] refuses to pay anything for her replacement of her second lost aid and I cannot explain why she feels this way, especially after we replaced her first lost aid at no cost at all as a courtesy. After we received the complaint from Revdex.com we have decided to replace the aid for the second time for free. I want to clarify that we are only doing so in an effort to resolve this matter and prevent a completely false claim from damaging our good name. The owner personally called [redacted] and she is happy with this decision. Thank you for your time. [redacted]
