Homeowner was roofed over two years ago, and at the time was such a satisfied customer that she went to Angie’s List to write a positive review on our behalf. Immediately following the project, she had a small drywall crack in her ceiling. We state in our contract that small cracks
can happen from time to time and that when roofs are completely torn off and replaced, it is in essence a construction project. Small cracks can happen due to the shaking of the roof. We came back out right away and we repaired the crack for her. Two years later, homeowner had structural damage causing her ceiling to collapse in her master bedroom. A separate contractor visited her home to look at the damage and suggested that it was because our crew set shingles that were too heavy on her roof while doing the construction project. This was an unfortunate comment to be directed at Patriot, and nothing more than an opinion, but we are confident that at no time did our crew cause this delayed damage to her home. Our shingle pallets are delivered to the driveway, and are taken up to the roof gradually as needed to complete the project. We don’t “sit” the shingles on the roof for an extended period of time. In addition, there was no indication at all of damage prior to her ceiling collapsing. The collapse also happened in a separate area from where we did the small drywall repair two years prior. This issue is related to other structural issues of an older home, and this homeowner needs to file a claim with her insurance company to have the damage repaired. Patriot Roofing Company stands by our warranty and we continue to provide superior service to our customers who are truly experiencing a warranty issue. After review of this issue, we are encouraging homeowner to work with her insurance company to have these structural repairs completed

My response to the statements by Patriot Roofing as well as my history with the company:
·         First of all the ceiling that collapsed was the bedroom where the “repair” was made, not the master bedroom as noted in their response. Thus, the collapse was exactly where the repair had been made
·         I chose Patriot because they were promoting a deal in which if they found damage to your roof and the insurance company agreed, they would put on a new 30 year roof for the cost of the insurance payment + the deductible. In addition, as a community service, they would make a donation to my church. Since I work at an inner city church and talked to another person who had accepted the deal, I agreed. As far as I know the church never received the promised donation.
·         Shortly after the roof was put on a representative from Patriot called me and asked if I would put a positive review on Angie’s List. Patriot would buy the membership. Since the only problem I had experienced to that time was the crack in the ceiling previously noted and I believed Patriot would support charities I agreed to do that. I wrote the review and it was never published because the membership was bought by the roofing company reviewed. In fact, the membership was discontinued at that time because it violated the integrity of the list.
·         The next year I found paint on my small back porch crumbling and nails sticking out. The wrong nails had been used on the job. They sent a crew out to repair the roof and at that time found flashing that needed repair. The man who was to do that job didn’t come when expected and was very inconsistent and unpredictable in follow-up. I understand that he is now no longer with the company.
·         I had been having water from downspouts seeping into my basement after hard rains. I had to call a plumber ($400) to clear the downspouts which were clogged with shingles and nails. I have not complained to Patriot about this though it is obviously their fault.
·         When the ceiling collapsed, it fell along the line that was “repaired” by Patriot. I was told by one of their representatives that the procedure for putting on the roof has changed since my job was done and is no longer supervised by the salesman.
·         Overall, I would never recommend Patriot to anyone. The old adage that if it looks too good to be true certainly fits here.
