Tri-State Pro Builder Reviews (1)

Review: My husband has MS and is in great need of a renovation to our home. I hired an ADA contractor, [redacted] (HIC #[redacted]) from the [redacted] internet site. [redacted] works for [redacted] of Tri-State Pro Builder OPM Enterprises at [redacted] PA. I entered into contract with them on 8/14/13 and gave them a total of $53,850. The contract was for 6-8 weeks, which has now passed. The entire 8 weeks was all excuse after excuse & lie after lie. [redacted] said his subcontractor cost him $22,000 but the subcontractor told us he was paid less than $13.000! [redacted] referred to us as his charity promotional project(take pics for his new brochure & advertisement). It was to build 2 small accessible rooms. The contractor is now telling us that he spent all the money on foundation, equipment rentals, and ordering materials. Then we found out the his checks for the permits bounced.I have NO materials. [redacted] said they are in "his warehouse" that I've never seen. Just 3 big holes in my backyard, and no heat. Now he refuses to refund any of our money claiming that all supplies were "custom ordered!" This is a lie. Everything was "in-stock." I believe this was his plan from the beginning-to swindle as much money from a handicapped person as possible because he knows we can't afford lawyers to fight him.Desired Settlement: More than $40,000 needs to be refunded for work never done and another estimated $5,000-$10,000 in repairs and cleanup.

Response:

Yes, we did offer to complete this job at a reduced cost as it was supposed to be showcase home. Which means TriState Pro Builders was going to utilize pictures, videos and testimorial from the [redacted]. The funds provided were for materials only, The concept was based on TriState Pro Builders offering labor.Several attempts have been made to have the contract revised. we also offered to begin the work inside the home until the exterior work could be rescheduled due to weather related issues.Custom materials were purchased for this project, which cannot be refunded. The materials were recently delivered to the [redacted], When the material vendor attempted to deliver the materials they were not accepted as they were informed that we were no longer their contractor.I feel TriState Pro Builders made every attempt possible to provide acceptable options to rectify these issues. However the [redacted] have made the decision to hire an Attorney to resolve these issues. Please let us know if you require any additional information regarding the unfortunate situation.Sincerely,

Response:

I paid them $53,850 and all I received were increasing expenses, 3 hazardous big holes in my demolished back yard, a partially destroyed fence, and a potential house fire threat when they incorrectly ripped my old HVAC system off my home’s back wall and left the wires live! Within a week or two of paying them, they claimed that they spent all my money on “supplies.” My many requests to see the POs were ignored. NO purchase orders exist anywhere because nothing was purchased for my renovation. The supplies they attempted to have delivered to my home were purchased AFTER they declared our contract null and void and was an attempt to lure us into a new contract. The blank, new contract they tried to lure me into signing was nothing shy of an attempt to get me to sign all rights, ownerships, and decisions over to them. They violated state regulations by demanding 100% of the money up front. Bait and switch tactics were also used. In order to lure me into signing with them, they promised me free replacement windows, a free whole-house generator, and a free walk-in tub—as part of advertising for them. They then tried to bill me for them. I did not receive those either. I showed them what I wanted and they tried to pawn off completely different and inferior, cheap materials the contractor already had on hand that was rejected by another customer.
