Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2016/08/31) */
Hello,
I have attached the two pages of the quote for Mr*** ***'s basement on *** *** FtWayne, INAs you can read in the quote paperwork what we did, but also what was not written in the quote was that we ended up almost
relaying brick on his front porch stepsWe agreed verbally to 100% grind out the brick on both sides of the steps so that all mortar on both sides matched even though 40% of it did not need ground out and re-tuck pointedI did not take pictures of the outside work though, unfortunatelyBut to us the main purpose and most important task was the basement
If you have any further questions, please feel free to call usWe will be in contact with you WednesdayThank you for your information and help
Thank you,
*** & *** ***
TRI STATE RESTORATION
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 10, 2016/09/06) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Tri State Restoration (*** ***) came to my house on Saturday, July 30, to assess the scope of work before starting the jobWe talked about the structural integrity of the basement wall and the need to maintain the waterproofing system already in place (trench, drain tile and sump pump)
*** talked about "jacking up the house" so that he could replace the block wall when he began the work on that following MondayI remember him specifically saying to his wife he had gotten ten-ton jacks for the job
We agreed that until he began removing stucco on the existing interior wall it was unclear how extensive the foundation repair would beHe had built in a range of *** in his estimate to take that into account
When I came home Monday, August 1, it looked like Tri State had put a new surface on the interior basement wall but the old wall was still in placeThe next day I called *** and he told me he decided to use concrete to fill the wall blocks to make the foundation sturdy againI expressed concern that the brickwork on the outside of the foundation still bulged outHe said they would be repairing that and would do their best to make that look better
Tri State continued to work on the foundation for the rest of that week and it appeared the brickwork was being done on that side, on the front steps, chimney, etc
When I came home Monday, Aug8, Tri State was essentially finished with the job and cleaning up*** and I went over what he had done inside and outsideHe stated that he would return in a "day or two" to finalize the caulk on the basement windowsI also asked if he could repair a part of the concrete floor (that was not part of the original contract)He agreed to take care of that since he was returning anyway
At that point, I paid the balance due on the contractTo my knowledge they never returned to my property except to remove their sign from my yardI called *** to find out what was going on and he said his wife was having surgeryI gave him a few more days to do the caulking, the floor patch and return my house keyThe next week, when I hadn't heard from him, he wouldn't answer my phone calls
Over those few days it rained - after a long dry spell - and we got water in the basementThe water was coming thru the wall that had just been repaired (from the corner and under the stairs)We also got water in the back corner, which was dry before their workNeedless to say I'm not happy with this result
Another part of our agreement was that he clean up the job site every day because of two vehicles we needed to park in the driveway adjacent to the foundation and brick workHe mostly did that but left some scrap concrete in a corner of my backyard, which I have asked him repeatedly to take care of
There has been a lack of communication from Tri State even when I called and left messages on both his business and cell phonesI texted him a photo of the water in the basement but he never responded to my concerns except to say he never promised the wall would be waterproof
After I filed my Revdex.com complaint and talked with the representative he finally returned my house key
I've attached several photos to further document what I've written above
