The pictures that Mr*** sent in showeda minor hair line crack in his concrete It clearly states in ourcontract that these hairline cracks can and will occurit is concrete. We sent a supervisor out to the property on September 16, andhe had a very difficult time
locating the crack Once he located it henoticed that it was due to the home owner building steps and using theaggregate deck as a base for the stairs The aggregate deck is not builtfor this use The stairs should have a cement base that they are sittingon at least 18" deep We would never recommend putting stairs on topof the deck as there is additional ground work that needs to be done in orderto support the steps and to ensure that the deck would not crack. In addition we did not do the sub grading or back filling of the pool at thisjob site We reviewed that with the home owner and have no idea how wellthe ground was compacted or what was done before we got there There is nothingwe can do for the hairline cracks we review that these can happen before thejob starts and we would never guarantee that there would not be any Welive in New Englandcement can crackThe contract clearly states this. We stand behind our work

I have spoken to *** and we have gone out and visited her property We have agreed with her to go out in the spring and fix any problems she has

Tuesday September 22, 2015 I reject the business's response. Regarding the message I received on Friday, September 18, at 3:PM. I disagree with almost everything that is in themessage. Below, I will argue pretty muchevery point made by the business. 1) The pictures I sent on June 8, clearly show MULTIPLEcracks - not "A minor hair line crack".2) The pictures I sent clearly show that the cracks are not hairline cracks. They are full thickness cracks going rightthrough the concrete - separating the concrete in multiple places. In more than one instance the cracks can beseen full thickness on the cantilever edge around the pool and in one spotthere are small chips that have fallen off into the pool. In other places around the outside edge youcan see the crack going through the thickness of the deck. In some places there is sediment being washedup from the cracks when it rains (which is obviously going to make it worseover time).3) IF a supervisor was sent out to my property on September 16, - I wouldn't know, becauseboth my wife and I were working, and no one was home. I have been asking since April 2, to setup a time to have someone come and look at the cracks in the concrete. Sending someone to my property; unannounced, unplanned, without my knowledge (or permission), on a Wednesday, duringbusiness hours - does not satisfy the request I have been making since thebeginning of April.4) I don't know how a supervisor could have difficulty locating the MULTIPLE cracks in my concretewhen my friends and neighbors see them when they don't even know to look, and thenask why the concrete is cracking already. IF the supervisor had come when I was home I could have easily showedhim the multiple cracks in the concrete.5) The cracks are NOT "due to the home owner building steps and using the aggregate deck as abase for the stairs". IF the supervisor had come when I was home, I could have easily showed him where theconcrete had bowed up in spots away from the stairs almost reversing the pitchangle that was engineered into the concrete (I have pictures of this). I could have also easily showed him thecement base that the stairs ARE sitting on that is 48" deep - much better than the 18" depth theymention in their message (I have pictures of this also).6) In fact, the stairs were built TO the RECCOMENDATION of the company. The salesman *** ***'s recommendation wasto build the stairs so the weight of the assembly was not carried by the deckand only one step was to rest on the deck itself. Exactly how it was built.7) I agree that the grading and back filling was not done by Triad. The pool was back filled by the pool installation company around April24, 2015. Due to wet weather and multiple delays with Triad, the concrete prep work was not started until May 14th. Almost a month of wet weather is more thanenough time to have the ground work settle. Furthermore - the area where most of the cracking has occurred was noteven dug up and therefore had been settling since the house was built manyyears ago. Also, part of the contract isto "form, COMPACT, and install"… I paid for this - there was even acharge for gravel that was delivered to prepare and compact the area inpreparation. I don't recall ever havinga conversation with Mr*** about how well the ground was compacted beforethey got there - this is why I hired a "professional", so the groundwould be compacted correctly and I wouldn't have any cracks. 8) I agree that we live in New England and concrete can crackThe contract clearly states: "Anycracks causing concrete separation, will be inspected immediately by customer and contractor to determine the cause. If fault is determined to be contractors, thecontractor will replace the section in question only for up to a period of oneyear." (emphasis mine). I have been waiting since the beginning of April to have what the contract clearlystates. I was called twice by Mr*** on Wednesday September 16, I was working and unable to answeror call him. I called him back the nextmorning, the 17th, his secretary answered and told me she would transfer me in,she then came back on and said was not at his desk and must be in thewarehouse. She sent me to his voicemailwhere I left a message to have him call me, so we could set up a time to havesomeone come out I still have not heard from him
