Triangle Auto Sales, Inc Reviews (4)

Company would not follow through with my purchase of a vehicle that I fairly won in an online auction (ebay). The Wilmington, NC branch of Triangle Auto Sales had a 1977 International Harvester Scout for sale on Ebay. I had been looking for a Scout in this condition for quite some time and was ecstatic when I won the auction, being the highest bidder. My father and I were getting ready to drive to Wilmington to pick up the vehicle the day after the auction ended when the seller contacted me and let me know that he would not be able to sell me the vehicle anymore. His reason was that the vehicle was never supposed to have been listed on ebay. This is extremely poor business practice. My suspicion is that someone else contacted the seller after the auction closed and offered a higher price for the vehicle, at which point the seller notified me that it was no longer for sale. Even if this is not the reason, it still shows the value this company puts on its customers.Their commitment to fair business is lacking. I would certainly never recommend anyone to this company as they are not people that you can trust.Desired SettlementI would like the company to allow me to purchase the vehicle for the price that I agreed to pay for it.Final Consumer Response /[redacted]/Triangle Auto Sales has made the vehicle available for sale to me again. I appreciate this effort and would like to close my complaint against them. They made a good effort to make sure I was satisfied.

They will not fix something that is still under 30 day warranty after they said they would. Will not return calls. Poor business practice. Purchased a 2010 chevy silverado less than 30 days ago on 09/09/2014 from Triangle Auto Sales in Raleigh, NC. The truck was purchased with 30 day warranty. Shortly after, the check engine light came on. Called sales rep, [redacted] from which the truck was purchased. He stated to have the truck checked and whatever part was needed he would get and put on. It was agreed. I took my truck on 10/02/2014 to the 11 am appointment he had set aside with his mechanic. I was there from 11 am to quarter til 12. I repeatedly asked the staff to speak with [redacted]. They kept saying he wasn't there; even though, he knew I was coming and over the com speaker, they kept saying "[redacted] line 1, [redacted], line 1." I felt as if he was avoiding me. After leaving the dealership and few miles down the road, the check engine light came back on. I pulled over to check the truck. Not only was the check engine light on, but I had a dent in the truck that hadn't been there prior to letting them work on the truck. I took my truck to another mechanic for a second opinion. The check engine light was reset and then it came back on again in the same amount of mileage as when I had left Triangle Auto Sales thinking it had been fixed. This mechanic concluded that the check engine light had only been reset. To fix the problem, it would have taking hours not 45 minutes to completed. When I called back to Triangle Auto Sales and requested to speak to [redacted]. Again, I was told he wasn't there. I tried to explain my problem but they were getting ugly with me. They keep giving me the run around and it's frustrating to me. They are stalling me out so when the 30 days are over they won't be obligated to pay anything; even though, they knew about it way before the end of the 30 days and having stated that they would fix the problem. The 30 day warranty ends 10/09/2014. They are not trying to fulfill the guarantee. It is a violation and poor business practice! To fix this problem, they should pay and I shouldn't have to come out of my pocket. What's the point of a warranty if it's not going to be upheld? Or if you say you will fix something and don't. It's a waste of gas, time, and money.Desired SettlementI would like for Triangle Auto Sales to cover the cost it takes to fix this problem. Business Response /[redacted]/Customer has contacted us,immediate appointment was made and problem was resolved.Advised customer of who to ask for if future problems arise.Consumer Response /[redacted]/Triangle Auto Sales fixed my truck on 10/30/2014. Since that time, my check engine light hasn't came on. As for the dent, they have agreed to fix it. I just have to bring the truck back on a Wednesday or Saturday. Will keep you updated on that. I am satisfied with the services at Triangle Auto Sales. I would like to thank the Revdex.com for your help.[redacted]

This auto dealership did not perform one of the repairs they promised to perform when I purchased the vehicle from them in October 2015.In October 2015 I purchased a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee from Triangle Auto Sales for my daughter who was with me during the purchase process. Before buying the vehicle, I took it to a mechanic who pointed out a couple of things that needed to be replaced, including the valve cover gaskets. The salesperson [redacted] agreed that their shop would perform the repairs recommended by my mechanic. The repair list explicitly specified replacement of a bushing (which was causing the transmission to make a clunking noise) and the valve cover gaskets, as well as removing the factory pin stripes. My daughter recently took the vehicle to another mechanic for an unrelated issue and was informed that the valve cover gaskets had not been replaced and were still leaking oil. My daughter has called Triangle several times to discuss this with the dealership. They never called her back, so I am now attempting to get them to address this through the Revdex.com.We have not been able to find paperwork showing that the dealership agreed to these repairs (it is possible that they did not put it in writing and I just trusted them). However the purchase was made only a few months ago and the salesperson and I had a series of discussions about the vehicle only having one broken key fob. I remember the salesperson calling the shop to discuss the gaskets because he was not sure what I meant. They also had some issues removing the pin stripes. Therefore I am sure that the salesperson remembers us buying this vehicle and remembers the repair agreement.I felt like the salesperson and dealership treated us well during the purchase process and I am hoping that the lack of response on the repair issue is just an oversight.Desired SettlementThe gasket replacement cost estimate we obtained from a reputable mechanic is $274 including parts and labor (much less than a Jeep dealership would charge). I would like for the business to reimburse us this amount so that we can have the repair completed.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] SALES MANAGContact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@ipass.net Management was unaware of this issue until notice of this complaint. The customer has been contacted and the repairs in question is scheduled to be performed. This was an oversight on our part and has been rectified at no cost to the customer.Consumer Response The dealership has resolved the issue quickly and courteously.Final Consumer Response

sold vehicle with no spare tire or tools-safety issuewe purchased a 2012 kia optima ,when we got home to straighten out the truck area, I noticed there was no spare tire,no jack, no lug wrench, the next day I called and spoke to the salesperson who sold us the car,and he said no problem, I'll getcha one. well its been 2 weeks now, my wife is afraid to drive it without a spare tire,we can't take it anywhere because we are affriad of getting a flat tire and we have NO spare.I have called and called and all I get is...gee can't find one..well that's just POOR BUSINESS PRACTICE and poor customer service, we had purchased 5 vehicle thru them with family members etc..the local KIA dealer can/has a spare tire package for $200.00. I think it would be to their advangetage to either get it from the local dealer or Remburse me 200.00 dollars to buy itDesired Settlementwe need a spare tire , jack , lug wrench etcI have priced it locally...its $200.00 I think triangle should ''man-up'' and either get it for us or refund the 200. to us so that we will have a spare for our car, and avoid any safety issuesFinal Consumer Response /[redacted]/triangle auto has finally made good on the spare tire issueone problem...we had purchased one for 178.00 and now the place where we bought will NOT accept a return. another company, one for poor customer satisfaction...geesh so here we are stuck with two spare tire's
