Triangle Rent A Car Inc Reviews (2)

The salesman told me I could return the vehicle I rented for Saturday, and picked up on Friday night could be returned Sunday. Not the case.I told the older gentleman that I could pick up the car in the morning to avoid extra charges...He assured me that I could return it on Sunday and he would only charge me for one day. I returned the car clean & with gas, but was still charged extra.Desired SettlementI simply want my deposit back.Business Response On Friday January 2 at 6:30 pm the customer rented a 15 pass van, due back January 3rd at 5:00 pm. The customer explained that he would not be able to return the vehicle until after close so the manager agreed to bill the customer only one day as long as the keys were in the drop box Sunday morning January 4. The vehicle was not returned until sometime after close on Sunday, actually making this a 3 day rental. However the manager only charged the customer 2 days.

On Thursday morning November 8, 2013, I rented a car from Triangle Rent a Car because I was having car trouble and needed to get to work. I was going to my son's house in [redacted] NC on Friday night, so I only needed the car for Thursday and Friday to get to work. I kept the car until Friday night, because I did not have a way to return it before the business closed since I did not have a working car. I was told that I could drop the car off after hours and leave the keys in the drop box. When my daughter in law came to pick me up Friday night, I drove the car back to Triangle Rent a Car and left the keys in the drop box. I cleaned the car out and put gas in it before I returned it. I received by $100 deposit back on November 12. About a month later I received a letter from my insurance company saying that Triangle had submitted a claim saying that I had damaged the front bumper of the car. The claim is for over $1200 worth of damage. I called my insurance company and told them that I did not damage the car. I only drove it to work. I was not in an accident, and if I had been, I would have reported it myself. I have a very good driving record, with no accidents. I am appalled and disgusted by this whole situation. I feel like I am being scammed. I will have to pay a $500.00 deductible out of my own pocket, which I don't have, and for what? For taking care of a car and bringing it back in good condition. I feel so cheated. I will never rent a car again, especially if it is this easy to scam a customer and an insurance company. My only mistake was thinking I was dealing with a reputable company and trusting them. One of the insurance agents I spoke with said I should have taken photos before I took the car and after I dropped it off. Hindsight is 20/20, and that doesn't help me with situation as it stands. You would think that a car lot would have cameras to watch their cars, but apparently this one does not.Product_Or_Service: Dodge Dart (rented)Account_Number: [redacted]Desired SettlementI would like them to look further into the matter. It was either damaged by vandals or one of their own employees. They did not even get in touch with me. They just contacted my insurance company. They just automatically assumed that I damaged the car, and I did not. They also need to get cameras for their car lot instead of using customers' insurance to make up for their lack of security on their car lot. Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: XXXXXXXXXXContact Email: [redacted]@trianglerentacar.comI am emailing you 4 documents. The first two are the outbound vehicle inspections of the two rentals prior to Ms. [redacted]. They show no damage to the vehicle. The 3rd document shows the outbound vehicle inspection for Ms. [redacted] rental where she signed accepting the vehicle with no damage. The 4th document shows the damage recorded at time of check in for Ms. [redacted]. There was an additional driver on Ms. [redacted] rental also. Sometimes this type of bumper damage occurs when the renter has parked the vehicle someone and someone else runs into it and our renter never know about the damage. We did try to call Ms. [redacted] the morning we discovered the damage but she did not return our call. Our rental agreements indicate the renter is responsible for damage to our vehicle until we check it in. Final Consumer Response I think I would have noticed 1200.00 worth of damage. Again, why was my 100.00 dollar deposit returned if there was damage to the vehicle? I have learned a lot through this process. Never trust anyone. People are always out to scam you. Take plenty of pictures before and after rental. And never rent a car especially from Triangle. I normally go to [redacted] which is right down the street. I should have just waited for them to open. If you could'nt get me on the phone , you also had my email address. Anyway, what's done is done and big business wins out again and what should have been a simple transaction turned into a nightmare for me. Also, if I had done the damage I would have no problem paying, that's why I have insurance. My problem is paying for damage that neither me or my daughter was responsible for.
