Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below [To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]First of all, Jim [redacted] response is full of lies It appears that Jim wasn't the one who wrote the response For instance, Trident Marine's "Summerize Package" as shown on the Trident Marine invoice, is spelled "Summerize," not "summarize" as seen repeatedly in his response He also states that the oil must be mixed with the gas This boat is exactly as delivered new from Trident Marine The engine oil is easily checked by looking at a clear plastic reservoir! The boat arrived at Trident Marine with an alarm going off Perhaps, because I am a female, he thinks he can treat me like I don't know anything about boats I grew up on Honeoye Lake with motorboats That gives me many decades of knowledge and experience This boat, made by Harris, was purchased brand new by [redacted] Solky, part of the Solky/ Lang/ DeWandel family Every year, [redacted] gets the premium service of transporting the boat to and from Trident Marine, winterizing and "summerizing." He even has Trident Marine remove and install his dock and boat hoist every year, too [redacted] always requests the premium services so that the key can be turned on to the boat every spring, knowing that his money was well spent on necessary maintenance He pays top dollar for these services and deserves top service Please find attached, Trident Marine's "Summerize Package." It clearly states that the engine oil will be checked as part of the step service This is the exact service that [redacted] pays for every spring The only customer responsibility is "installing the hull plug" if the boat is brought to Trident Marine That clause doesn't apply since the boat doesn't have one and is 100% in the care, custody and control of Trident Marine until it is delivered to the West Lake Road cottage in the spring.Engine oil is the lifeblood of all engines These boats have their engine oil checked by visibly looking at the clear plastic reservoir It doesn't matter whether it is a stroke or a stroke engine, this boat is accessible to check engine oil Since Trident Marine sold this boat new and is the exclusive service provider of this unit, nobody else knows this boat betterMany tankfuls of fuel can be run through before the oil even drops significantly This spring, the boat was delivered with a little over 1/of a tank of fuel It hasn't been run long enough to even need fuel since the engine ran so poorly, would stall out and had trouble starting It was impossible to safely travel anyplace.I drove it to the Marina and told them about the issues discovered after Trident delivered the boat for the spring/ summer season Work order 24512, dated 7/10/2017, was created for the running issues, maintenance, fuel and to do some other non-related small repairs Trident Marine installed new spark plugs to make it run better The technician said that they thoroughly test drove the boat to make sure it was running correctly But, when attempting to return it to the dock, the boat broke down again while in the care, custody and control of Trident Marine They drove it back to the marina, this time with charging issues (which was a past problem) Trident Marine repaired the charging system and then delivered the boat back to the West Lake Road cottage Now, after the charging system was repaired and the engine maintenance was performed, it was time to finally enjoy the boat! I tried to start it up I tried for minutes and then it finally started I drove straight across the lake to Trident Marine to have them yet again attempt to repair the starting issues The Trident Marine employees were assisting other frustrated customers while I was there They were having similar problems as a result of faulty repairs I was told that the engine was run out of oil and needs replacing or a rebuild! How can this be? The boat hasn't even had a full tank of gas run through it Trident Marine employees were the ones who burned most of the fuel! Trident Marine is the responsible party for making sure this boat was ready to go I shouldn't have to go through the whole boat, checking their work after the large amounts of money that were spent on this! [redacted] Solky was quoted up to $8,for a new engine If he is going to be taken advantage of by Trident Marine, I will financially assist him even though I did nothing wrong [redacted] trusted Trident Marine I trusted Trident Marine It appears that it is time to do business with a different place that takes pride in their work and does the work that is paid for Engine oil shouldn't even be a topic of controversy When a boat is repeatedly at Trident Marine for service and is then delivered back by Trident Marine employees, it shouldn't blow up minutes later! Is my only other solution to sue Trident Marine? Thanks to Trident Marine, our summer has been ruined and we have a blown engine!Regards, [redacted]

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]First of all, Jim [redacted] response is full of lies.  It appears that Jim wasn't the one who wrote the response.  For instance, Trident Marine's "Summerize Package" as shown on the Trident Marine invoice, is spelled "Summerize," not "summarize" as seen repeatedly in his response.  He also states that the oil must be mixed with the gas.  This boat is exactly as delivered new from Trident Marine.  The engine oil is easily checked by looking at a clear plastic reservoir!  The boat arrived at Trident Marine with an alarm going off.  Perhaps, because I am a female, he thinks he can treat me like I don't know anything about boats.  I grew up on Honeoye Lake with motorboats.  That gives me many decades of knowledge and experience.  This boat, made by Harris, was purchased brand new by [redacted] Solky, part of the Solky/ Lang/ DeWandel family.  Every year, [redacted] gets the premium service of transporting the boat to and from Trident Marine, winterizing and "summerizing."  He even has Trident Marine remove and install his dock and boat hoist every year, too.  [redacted] always requests the premium services so that the key can be turned on to the boat every spring, knowing that his money was well spent on necessary maintenance.  He pays top dollar for these services and deserves top service.  Please find attached, Trident Marine's "Summerize Package."  It clearly states that the engine oil will be checked as part of the 11 step service.  This is the exact service that [redacted] pays for every spring.  The only customer responsibility is "installing the hull plug" if the boat is brought to Trident Marine.  That clause doesn't apply since the boat doesn't have one and is 100% in  the care, custody and control of Trident Marine until it is delivered to the West Lake Road cottage in the spring.Engine oil is the lifeblood of all engines.  These boats have their engine oil checked by visibly looking at the clear plastic reservoir.  It doesn't matter whether it is a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke engine, this boat is accessible to check engine oil.  Since Trident Marine sold this boat new and is the exclusive service provider of this unit, nobody else knows this boat better. Many tankfuls of fuel can be run through before the oil even drops significantly.  This spring, the boat was delivered with a little over 1/2 of a tank of fuel.  It hasn't been run long enough to even need fuel since the engine ran so poorly, would stall out and had trouble starting.  It was impossible to safely travel anyplace.I drove it to the Marina and told them about the issues discovered after Trident delivered the boat for the spring/ summer season.  Work order 24512, dated 7/10/2017, was created for the running issues, maintenance, fuel and to do some other non-related small repairs.  Trident Marine installed new spark plugs to make it run better.  The technician said that they thoroughly test drove the boat to make sure it was running correctly.  But, when attempting to return it to the dock, the boat broke down again while in the care, custody and control of Trident Marine.  They drove it back to the marina, this time with charging issues (which was a past problem).  Trident Marine repaired the charging system and then delivered the boat back to the West Lake Road cottage.    Now, after the charging system was repaired and the engine maintenance was performed, it was time to finally enjoy the boat!  I tried to start it up.  I tried for 25 minutes and then it finally started.  I drove straight across the lake to Trident Marine to have them yet again attempt to repair the starting issues.  The Trident Marine employees were assisting other frustrated customers while I was there.  They were having similar problems as a result of faulty repairs.  I was told that the engine was run out of oil and needs replacing or a rebuild!  How can this be?  The boat hasn't even had a full tank of gas run through it.  Trident Marine employees were the ones who burned most of the fuel!  Trident Marine is the responsible party for making sure this boat was ready to go.  I shouldn't have to go through the whole boat, checking their work after the large amounts of money that were spent on this!  [redacted] Solky was quoted up to $8,000.00 for a new engine.  If he is going to be taken advantage of by Trident Marine, I will financially assist him even though I did nothing wrong.  [redacted] trusted Trident Marine.  I trusted Trident Marine.  It appears that it is time to do business with a different place that takes pride in their work and does the work that is paid for.  Engine oil shouldn't even be a topic of controversy.  When a boat is repeatedly at Trident Marine for service and is then delivered back by Trident Marine employees, it shouldn't blow up minutes later!  Is my only other solution to sue Trident Marine?  Thanks to Trident Marine, our summer has been ruined and we have a blown engine!Regards,[redacted]

This is a response to ID [redacted]. As per our telephone conversation, [redacted] ls not the owner of the Pontoon Boat, she was borrowing the boat from a long time customer of Trident Marine. We are working with the owner to try to resolve the Issue. Attached is the work order that Miss [redacted]...

paid for on the behalf of the boat owner, and a response to Miss [redacted]'s statement of problem.Trident has winterized and summarized the boat In question for 12 years, and we do have a checklist of Items we check to get the boat ready for the summer. Nowhere on the checklist Is the amount of gas/oil mixture. This Is a two stroke engine, which means the oil is mixed with the gas, and Is the customers responsibility. It is not like a car which is a 4 stroke motor where the oil can be checked on a dip stick, and should always be a certain amount. The oil in a two stroke motor is constantly being used and has to be checked and filled with the gas. Since the oil is constantly being used it is impossible to know how much is enough oil, Some clients like to keep it all the way full, some run it until it is empty, so Marinas let the customer decide how much oil they want In their boat. The boat has a safety alarm that goes off when they are low, or out of oil to protect the boat user. The boat in question was only brought to us once, and the work order Is attached. The owner also had Trident fix a charging Issue that was completed at the same time as the attached work order. We had to order the part, which delayed delivery, but was only in our shop once.Customer stated that she could not get the motor started so she drove the boat across the lake, not sure how that Is accomplished. She also states that she drove the boat with the oil light and alarm going off and the engine quit. The engine never quit, it was brought all the way to our docks with the alarm and oil light going off, and one of Tridents employees told her that the alarm and oil light meant that she was out of oil. The employee then put oil in the boat and took It for a test run, In which the boat did not perform as It should. A compression test was administered and was determined that, because the boat ran out of oil, the motor had internal damage. Miss [redacted] states that she told us to top off oil and gas, this was never requested, as per our work order, we changed a broken bimini clip, diagnosed that the stereo head unit was no longer working, changed spark plugs and Installed customer supplied sea foam to correct idling problem. As you can see this was clearly a user error to run this boat without oil, and to not turn the boat off when the oil light and alarm went off to protect the engine. We do have a long relationship with the owner of the boat so we are trying to come up with a solution that takes his relationship Into account. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.Regards,Jim [redacted]
