Review: Contacted Trifecta to recharge r22. Contacted them based on reviews read on yelp. Have older air conditioning unit that has never had r22 recharged. Advised trifecta of need to recharge at time of dignosis visit on June 26st. Was told that $89 charge would be subtracted from repair/recharge invoice. In detrimental reliance of their statement hired them. I had to work that day and had left a signed blank check (#[redacted] for my girlfriend to pay for repairs. Trifecta employee [redacted] came and immediately secured payment for dignosis ($89) and then, without looking at unit, preceded to tell her we need a new unit and they have no interest financing available. Red Flag. When he did look at unit he claimed had "clogg in system (tcv or filter dryer)". Did not provide written diagnostic of system as paid for. He did scribble a diagram that was pretty laughable. When I got home I was not a happy camper upon hearing andcseeing what transpired. Called Trifecta and requested my paid for diagnostic and free estimate. Two gentlemen arrived and examined unit. Told them what [redacted] said problem was and his drawing. They indicated they new what he meant. I went on room a observed the two trifecta employees examine unit. They determined that unit was nesrly out of r22 ([redacted] had told my girlfriend it was full)and that it had a leak. I asked where and they pointed to the only spot they could see where a leak was. They preceded to provided me an estimate for a new unit and get me an estimate for repair only. The repair would be $1,640. New unit would be $8,331. Contacted another company about r22 recharge and leak. Leak was where Trifecta employees pointed too and was a quick and easy fix. Unit was recharged and works great now. Saved replaced parts. Observed recharging and leak fix. Total cost about $180!!!Desired Settlement: Refund my $89. End business practice of charging for diagnostic when used only as leverage for selling unit replacement or grossing overcharging gullible consumers for "repairs".
