Trinity Business, Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: On 8/16/2013 We had our roof, gutters, fascia board, downspouts replaced on our home. Since the repair we have had gutters that leak. We have called several times to have this problem rectified. The company has come back 2 different times to fix this problem. It has not been rectified as of yet. I have called the company on several occasions and they do not return my calls. We have a 5 year warranty on their workmanship. The owner/manager of the company, [redacted] wanted us to pay for materials in order for him to fix the problem. We did not agree to pay any additional costs. We will not pay any additional costs. We paid to have this done correctly the first time. This is causing additional problems to our home. The deck boards under our covered roof have been getting saturated. If this continues, we will have to replace many of the ceiling boards and deck flooring. I expressed this concern with the company when they returned the second time to attempt to fix the problem which have not been fixed.Desired Settlement: We would like the gutters working properly. Gutters replaced, as they have several holes in them from not being fixed properly. Fascia board replaced with 2x6 in back of the house, 2x8 in front of the house. If they don't return soon we would like our decking boards replaced.

Mrs. [redacted],

Our company has reviewed the contract in which you signed regarding work that was completed at your home. We have also reviewed all calls, and emails that you have sent regarding the problems that are arising from your gutters.

Your roof, gutters, downspouts, and fascia board was replaced by our company August 14, 2013. As written in the contract the fascia board was to be replaced. At the beginning, during, or even after the project was complete there was no mention as to a specific size of fascia board that you wanted. Our company installed standard fascia board size on your house. Even the week after the job was completed there was no complaint regarding the fascia board size.

When the first complaint was received by our company, we came out and adjusted the gutters. This complaint was received several weeks after the job was completed. The complaint that came into our office was regarding the gutters overflowing. There was no mention of gutters leaking thru, only filling and coming over. Adjustments were made to try and compensate for the rate in which the gutters sent water to the downspouts. The gutters and downspouts were also cleaned of debris and leaves.

The next complaint was not received until June of 2014. Pictures were sent on June 6, 2014 showing the gutters overflowing. Gutters were clearly full in pictures and water was running over top of gutter and in between fascia. Trinity responded again and found downspouts that were full of debris. Gutters and downspouts were cleaned of a large amount of debris. Testing was done with water to ensure gutters had proper slope and water was reaching downspouts. No sign of gutters leaking at seams was found.

Another call was received in August of 2014 to adjust the gutters. This time the gutters were adjusted even more, at the request of Mr. [redacted]. Slope for gutters is normally 1/4" every 10'. But because homeowner stated that slope was no where near what it need to be, our company placed a dramatic slope on the gutters. At this time, Mr. [redacted] stated that the fascia board installation was incorrect and should have been 2x6 sized boards. As per our contract and since the job had been completed for 1 year, our owner stated that in order to replace fascia again to the new specifications, charges would apply. This being because there was no mention of larger sized fascia needed at the beginning, during, or even directly after this job was completed. Our company has never been asked by the client to place different sized fascia on different sections of the house as stated in the posting on the Revdex.com website. The posting on the Revdex.com website is the first we have heard about (2) different sizes of fascia being requested to be installed on different areas of the home. We have attached the signed contract. Our standard fascia board installation size is 1x6.

With all pictures and descriptions to our company in regards to how the gutters were responding, we feel strongly that heavy rain, and gutters and downspouts full of debris were and are the main cause of the problems. Over the course of the past (2) years our company has come out (3) total times to your property. Each time the gutters have been cleaned and downspouts have been cleaned of a large amount of debris. Our company cannot be responsible for cleaning the debris from your gutters and downspouts each year. Debris that washes off of your roof will clog downspouts, along with leaves from the Fall of each year. In addition, if a rain storm is strong enough, during the heavy rain, gutters may have trouble keeping up. This is normal and once the rain is not pouring, as long as the downspouts and gutters are free from debris, the gutter will return to moving water adequately to downspouts.

Thank You,

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The fascia board was mentioned several times. As stated in my complaint we, refused to pay extra for the proper material which should have been replaced the first time. Mr. [redacted] and myself both mentioned this to [redacted] and [redacted] a sales representative. [redacted]'s response was the back fit we didn't realize there was a size difference until we put it up, and wanted us to pay an extra fee. I'm not satisfied with the companies reply and no resolution is being offered. We contacted the company right after the first rain. They took several weeks to respond to our issues. The debris they took from both front and rear gutters was approximately 2 handfuls. Most of it they took from the center of the gutters and it was mostly shingle stone. They never told me the shingles would run off the gutters. There was a few leaves and pine needles, not enough to cause the problems we were enduring. I have cleaned gutters in the past and have seen what causes a blockage. After they "cleaned them and adjusted them" the first time, again the gutters leaked over and behind. There were NO debris removed when they returned the second trip. They attached an extra piece of aluminum to "catch the water when it ran off the roof" as per [redacted] stated the roof was steep and that was the cause. There was no change in the steepness of the roof when repaired. The gutters that were on our home previously did NOT leak at all in the rear of the house. I specifically mentioned this to [redacted]. I also mentioned I was not happy with the way the edge looked. I stated "but if it works, I'll be happy". The front needed to be replaced it was broken in the center. Which the company was aware of when hired to replace the gutters. When they came out for the third time they adjusted the gutters on a downhill slope. No debris was removed. Each time they came out water was sitting in the gutters. This was even visible from a distance, you can see the water shimmering in the sun. Which [redacted] pointed out. Every time they returned they put more holes in the gutters, as well as the fascia board. I'm not satisfied with the companies reply and no resolution is offered.Heavy rains are not the reason our gutters are leaking it is from poor workmanship. Another reason they are not properly working is that there is too much over hang of shingles, which is causing much of the problem. This was discussed with [redacted] the sales representative. [redacted]'s was aware of this and his response was "he is a professional company and stands by his work. We are not a fly by night company". I did not include that in my complaint, as I forgot to mention when reading my complaint to Mr. [redacted], he reminded me, and [redacted] stated this wasn't the cause, he felt confident we would not have any more problems. Then after attempting to get in touch with them to fix the problem, again, not receiving return calls contacted the Revdex.com to seek resolution. It's clear to me there is no resolution from this business. They are not honoring their warranty, workmanship or word. I'm not satisfied with the resolution. Simply there is no resolution offered. If we need to have the gutters and fascia repaired by another company we will seek resolution through the courts system. I was hoping the Revdex.com would help resolve this issue and not take up our time, the businesses time or the courts time.

Regards,

Business

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. We have heard from the company. They are suggesting that our problem is the fact that we have one downspout on the front and one on the rear of our home. We have lived here 9 years. It has worked properly and sufficiently until the high winds of the Dericho and other storms tore off the shingles and front gutter. Which is why we saved up the money to replace the roof and gutters. They said they are willing to replace the gutters, the fascia board. They want to charge us for the extra down spout. I have no problem with that, I have requested a quote for the two downspouts. One for the front, one for the rear of our home. It has been nearly a week and we have not heard back from the company. I also stated I would not pay for the extra work unless it worked properly and we are satisfied with the results. After being ignored, and not having the work done properly I'm not fully convinced that this company will actually repair our home the way it should be. I also brought it to their attention I will not accept the stained cedar wood they want to repair the fascia board with, I expect 2 inch treated board. They uses 1 inch non treated which is now warped and pushing the gutters even further from the roof which is causing the rain water to run under the roof damaging plywood, beams and deck floor boards. If in fact they come soon, and the work is repaired, I will be satisfied with the response and hope the plywood, beams or deck boards won't need replacement. I'm getting a second opinion to insure that our home hasn't been damaged any further due to the poor workmanship and neglect from the company.
