They refuse to refund my tuition. I am being told that I must still pay an annual $250, plus a $50 w/ an additional $50 to withdraw.
I am filing a complaint because they will not refund my tuition. I understand the part about the tuition. However, they are not wanting to charge me an annual fee of $250 for 2020, plus an additional fee of $50 in order to withdraw from their organization.

Desired Outcome

I feel that they are keeping over $5000 dollars of my money. That should be suffice for withdrawal from their organization. Another $300 should not be charged.

Attached you will find the registration that Mr *** signed when he enrolled in Trinity College of the Bible.

You will see it plainly states that by signing the legally binding contract he agreed to pay all tuition and fees that are due to the institution.

The student services fee is clearly marked annual as well.

Mr *** has not formally withdrawn and is an active student with Trinity. All students that have an active registration with the school are charged an annual student services fee in the amount of $250.00.

If Mr *** wishes to avoid future annual fees, he will need to formally withdraw from his academic program. A notice of formal withdraw will be needed along with the $50.00 processing fee that is explained on the signed registration.

The annual fee was charged on 12/20, twelve months after enrollment as is policy.

Mr *** received his first statement to reflect the charge on that date. On Jan 9th I sent Mr *** a reminder that this fee was due so he could prevent the late fee. The notice contained the link for payment. Mr *** replied to the notice that he was traveling and would not be paying it until Feb.

Once the late fee was issued he began sending emails that he would not be paying anything else and asked for a full refund.

If Mr *** does not pay the annual fee as agreed upon, the charge will be reported to the IRS on a 1099c as well as to the three credit bureaus. All policies and procedures will be followed.

We invite Mr *** to participate in the Doctor of Religious Studies program that he enrolled in. His classes have all been prepared for him and we look forward to having him as a student.

Thank you,

As a recipient of a Trinity degree a couple of years ago, I can, unequivocally say I worked my posterior to the nth degree on the courses that I took. The scholarly curriculum with in depth reading and mental analytic writing had me determined to meet the objectives of a very worthwhile and honorable Christian oriented degree. As a lay person not in the ministry, the tasks and projects assigned by my mentor ("tormentor") elevated my enthusiasm to endure and at least complete a very worthwhile and illuminating degree of Christian knowledge that will provide a lasting influence on my life as a pursuing disciple of our Lord Jesus. I think of the verse in Hos. 4:6 which the Lord speaks that His people perish for their lack of knowledge. My desire was to learn more from accurate, inspired biblical teaching and that was earned from Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary. Matriculating to this Seminary was the only way that I could complete a God driven desire maintaining a 40 hour a week job, time with the family, and completing this course of study. It was a balancing act that ended in a graduation success. My sincere thanks for the prayers, the dedication, and the interest of my Trinity professors while I was a student. I, also, thank the Holy Spirit for guidance in selecting this Seminary and for His persistence when I needed it.

Trinity rejoices with you! We anticipate God has and will use you greatly in the days to come. As a graduate, you will always be a part of the Trinity family. We are cheering you on!

Originally, I was skeptical about attending a institution that wasn't affiliated with an accreditation body. As an individual that has already attended and graduated from other programs that are accredited, I decided to give the Trinity the benefit of the doubt. As I began my coursework for the Master of Arts in Christian Counseling program, I realized that it was a designed to be a self pace program that afforded adult working students flexibility.

The instructors appeared very knowledgeable in the areas that they taught. I never had a problem with them responding to me in a timely manner. The syllabus were clear and easy to understand. Now that I'm a graduate of the seminary the only knock that I have on the school is that it doesn't have accreditation that other programs do.

My program primarily taught by one person - poor quality, I dropped - ultimately prog. no longer exists. They insist cont. payment for no classes.
I sought a Master Degree in Life Coaching and Mentorship. I began in late dec 2016. In one year I got a taste of the program and was so disappointed I contacted student advisor and ultimately the President of the University. I was told withdrawal was an option but I would continue to pay for a Masters Degree I no longer sought. Huh!? What a racket.

Complaints:
The instructor Dr. *** is very aloof and hands the class over to students to teach. Little structure-that which was attempted failed through shotty and outdated syllabus w wrong email for Teacher. Attempts at communication often missed or misunderstood. Classes online would begin 20-45 minutes late while they figured out technical issues with powerpoint on their end. The whole time listening to un-related whimsical tales by Dr. ***

I appreciate there are many college professors in the world who are "characters". Sometimes you have to take these classes. And I did endure them. Realizing my options in finishing my program put me in ISP or her online circus, I decided the frustration was not worth my energy. I am very busy.

The courses do not make efficient use of a working adults time. It felt like we were "playing school". The school is not accredited but if the courses had been solid (and other programs may be), then I was willing to attend the discounted education, simply interested in growing my skills.

Unfortunately, I hardly got what I paid for. Pardon me. As a consumer, I expect my dollar to be respected.

The Life Coaching and Mentoring Masters I began seems to have been an attempt to expand their offerings with new language. It's failed. It's no longer offered.

I've talked with *** a student advisor (the most helpful person a I encountered) and we made multiple efforts at reconstructing a program for me to pursue beyond the one I started. This would entail a few things:
1) I'd have to pursue a degree that doesn't interest me
2) I'd have to buy a whole new trove of textbooks - I'd already purchased books for Coaching program, etc.

The school claims that you agree to pay a lump sum and you are put on non-interest monthly installments until the price of your program is paid. They say you are charged for classes you "open" which, once you register for them, you have to do in order to find a syllabus (frequently old or poorly constructed), and to get the necessary texts.

In an effort to find a program with competent instruction, whichever I assume exists there, I dropped all classes. *** and I did this more than once.

At present, I have no classes in my TOLC (Trinity Online Learning Center) beyond those I completed. I am registered for nothing else (unless they consider the remaining classes necessary for a program that as far as I can see, they decided unsuccessful enough to remove from their offerings).

They want me to pay the balance of a Program I'm no longer taking classes in, and pay student fees for a school I am no longer a student at.

Desired Outcome

I'd appreciate if they were big enough to admit the program was a flop, they already (in spite of a public service tuition grant of 40% off tuition) have received from me payment far exceeding the quality of education I received. I'd appreciate they cut ties with me and the remaining balance of nearly $3600.00 that they want to collect even though I have effectively WITHDRAWN from school. When I contacted Dr. ***, the President of the school, I was responded to by him, through a females email (whom he later claimed was his secretary). He sent a marvelously detailed clarification as to what I had been offered in the general financial package, he said once I signed up for the Masters Program I am responsible to pay in spite of whether I attend. Despite, apparently, whether the program even still exists at the school. If my experience with education at Trinity had been HALF as detailed, organized, and well articulated as the Presidents email to me stating why I was welcome to quit but I still need to pay, I wouldn't have left. I did not have anything near that experience. I will not pay with my hard earned money or my precious time for something I deem apathetically wastes both.

Thank you for the opportunity to reply.

This student who is named in the above complaint enrolled in Trinity Bible College on 12/26/2016. She was issued a public service grant in the amount of $2966.40 at the time of her enrollment.

Her registration is both signed and dated indicating that she both read and understood the payment policies regarding the tuition that is due to the school as well as understanding the refund policies.

All policies are outlined clearly in the student handbook as well as in the student catalog which are not only available on our website but the link is provided on the registration that the student sign.

This student had ample opportunity to change her major and to work with Mr *** her student adviser, to find something that would work better for her.

Dr *** is a highly respected professor and a favorite of the students. While there can be many technical glitches that can arise in an online classroom setting, there is a host available at all times who solves them as they arise. Students log in from all around the country and outside of the US as well. Students love the interaction that takes place with all of their classmates as well as the hands on approach that Dr *** offers.

Trinity is still offering said student the opportunity to change her major and to help her complete her degree in anyway that will provide her with the best experience.
The only thing required of her is to fulfill her obligation and commitment she made to the school when she signed and dated her registration upon enrollment. Her registration is good until 12/27/2019 and our offers to help will remain during the entire duration of the registration. We invite her to contact Mr *** and to complete the classes for which she agreed to pay for by signing her registration upon enrollment.

"Trinity is still offering said student the opportunity to change her major and to help her complete her degree in anyway that will provide her with the best experience."

I don't want to change my major. I want to stop being charged for the failed program I chose. I signed up for a program that was poorly planned and executed. When I realized that, I withdrew. The program was Life Coaching and Mentorship. The other programs are variations of counseling and ministry, and for all I know might be wonderful programs. I am not *** the institution, I seek fair play.

I want to stop being charged for the failed program I chose. I have withdrawn. I no longer attend. I do not want to pay annual student service fees or to still be on their auto-pay system which deducts money from my account. I have easily already paid for the classes I completed.

I am not interested in pursuing "an opportunity to change majors". I want to be removed from their auto pay and close the book on our relationship.

Trinity rejects the complaint that the program the above student enrolled in was a flop.

It is still offered. The program does not appear in the new class catalog simply because we are no longer enrolling new students in the program.

We welcome the above student to contact us and we will help her change her classes in anyway that she so desires but the tuition will have be paid. There is a legally binding contract with the school that she signed on 12/27/2016.

We invite her to call us today and we will be happy to let her rework her registration at no cost.
