Review: Me and my son were moved by the company after speaking to [redacted] who assured me his company was professional and upfront about moving, being in business for a very long time and family owned.

Come moving day unprofessional activities just kept piling up and my son kept notes of everything that happened.

1. Movers were scheduled to arrive at 7:30-8am because move in on new residence is from 9am - 4pm after which **a $500 FINE is charged to the tenant** for after hours delivery.

2. Actual time of Movers arrival 10:47am. WHICH IS LATER THEN WAS PROMISED. IF WE HADN'T CALLED MULTIPLE TIMES IT PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN LATER.

3. Movers show up LATE with no tools to disassemble or do anything to bed room furniture besides wrap the drawers and chests and closets and dollys for pushing stuff around.

4. Mattress and box spring from my room, were never boxed, sealed or wrapped, they were dragged across hallway floors and placed on the truck AS IS. VERY NON-PROFESSIONAL.

5. The above action made my son and his friends that were on the premises to help move ONLY BOXES AND BAGS OF CLOTHING. Plastic Wrap his BRAND NEW BED and BOXING FRAME in front of the moving company [redacted] the gentleman who stated he was not in the room when my son wrapped the boxing and his bed so that they would not be dragged across a dirty apartment building floor that people walk on and spit on constantly. WAS IN FACT IN THE ROOM BECAUSE I AND MY BOYFRIEND BOTH saw him and the two others in the room at the time of my son and his friend wrapping the bedding to protect it from being dragged across dirty flooring outside.

6. My son called the company very calmly at first to explain that after the move his boxing had been broken by the movers because of the tight fit from the central moving entrance to the elevator is a tight fit. Building security provided a perfect recollection of the incident stating that the two shorter gentleman shoved the box spring in the elevator as best as they could to get in and broke the upper corner in the process.

7. As stated before my son was trying to be calm in the process of explaining the situation to several different departments and after being transferred to about 4-5 different people was becoming very frustrated. So then the smartest thing he did during his conversations with these gentleman is record them honestly because the gentleman [redacted] or whatever his name was he spoke to came on the phone very confrontational with my son, first off he is the son of the consumer ME and you don't yell at him while he is trying to explain the situation from start to finish in which he found his brand new bedroom set damaged. Furthermore [redacted] was very belittling telling my son that "Your trying to file a false claim and you were horribly underinsured in the first place".

8. Now the last statement made my this gentleman made me think to myself because when I asked [redacted] originally if the company was insured this whole insurance process was never properly explained to me so when the gentleman [redacted] arrived on-site and my son was asking about insurance practices after reading the paper contracts and being very concerned was directed to take 10,000 of insurance for the sum I believe was $165 dollars added to the cost of the move. Now for this other gentleman to belittle my son on a recorded phone call and tell him "he was horribly underinsured" sounds like a damn good case for me to make in a court of law in front of a judge under improper explanations of services rendered through contract.

9. [redacted] came on the phone and tried to calm down the situation but honestly it wasn't working because the company gentleman were arguing with my son and everyones heads were a hot mess at the time and [redacted] told my son he would call me back yesterday Friday September [redacted] 2013 to talk to me about the issue and see what we could resolve.

Something about a $500 deductible was also discussed but I am not to business savvy and my son is really the person who I go to because he studies business law and he's very upset not about the bedding being broken mostly but about the VERY POOR and WHEN I SAY POOR I MEAN POOR AND CLASSLESS belittling he suffered at the hands of the gentleman [redacted] which is RECORDED as evidence and my son is very well taken care of in his field so even channel 11's [redacted] will be receiving a copy of this recorded phone call. IF NEEDED FOR THE SITUATION TO BE TAKEN PUBLIC!!!!!

It's a shame people would talk to anyone in that manner while trying to resolve a customer complaint.

This business needs to conduct themselves better and more professional and hire honest people who won't lie when their boss asks them a questions concerning damaged customer goods. I am very displeased with the actions of [redacted] and his very filthy mouth that was heard even when [redacted] was on the phone swearing in the background.

It's a shame I would have to come to me posting this article here on the Revdex.com for everyone to read for a matter that should of been resolved privately. My son is an advocate on social media and has a pretty good following in everything he does so when he tells me "mom I'm gonna destroy this companies reputation with this recorded phone call unless they refund us something for the damages or that ** insurance" I take him quite seriously seeing that he has done it for other companies in the past and has been featured on [redacted]'s Help Me Howard twice!Desired Settlement: Honestly I would like compensation in the form of a billing adjustment.

My son has already called the bedding company who asked him what happened to the new furniture and explained to them the situation with the move and the fact he needs a new queen sized box spring which was billed at $200 even.

The furniture company is due here Monday September [redacted] at 2pm with the new bedding and the old one will be kept as proof of damages until my son advises me of the next step we are going to take.

I would also like a WRITTEN apology not from [redacted] because he is great guy but I understood the situation but [redacted] definitely was VERY VERY ABSURD and OUTLANDISH in his back and forth assessment with my son and I deserve an apology for having to listen to someone talk to my son like that after rendering their professional services.

NO ONE AND I DO MEAN NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO HEAR THEIR FAMILY OR BE TALKED TO IN THAT MANNER EVER. I WAS SHOCKED AND APPALLED TO EVEN HEAR THAT CONVERSATION GO WHERE IT DID WHEN MY SON TRIED SO CALMLY IN THE BEGINNING TO BE UNDERSTOOD THAT HIS FURNITURE WAS DAMAGED BY THE MOVERS.

NO ONE ELSE ON SITE BUT THE MOVERS MOVED ANY FURNITURE AND IF NEEDED BY THE COMPANY THEY CAN REQUEST FROM SECURITY A RECORDING OF THE TAPED FOOTAGE OF THE MOVE FOR THAT DAY AS WE WERE ADVISED BY THE ONSITE SECURITY.

God Bless [redacted] because I really like him for helping me and my family move but he has to talk to his company members about being more professional while rendering phone call concerns with customers. This should have never escalated out of hand like this. And I am very sorry to have endured the duress of it all. I just wanted to be moved and live happily in my new home but seeing my son enraged like how he is STILL is disturbing me because he works very hard in the banking community to provide professional services and knows how to talk to people in a professional setting and most importantly ON THE PHONE.

Response:

The company settled the damage claim for $165 even though the deductible was more than that. The credit was placed on the customer's credit card.

Review: [redacted] CAME TO OUR HOME TO LOOK AT THE FURNITURE SO AS TO GIVE AN ESTIMATE; WE WERE MOVING FROM NY TO FLORIDA. HE CAME LOOKING PROFESSIONAL WITH A LAPTOP AND PRINTER. HE GAVE US A LONG HISTORY OF THE COMPANY AND HOW HE WAS DOING THIS FOR 30 YEARS. HE PRINTED OUT AN ESTIMATE AND TOLD US IT WOULD TAKE 5-7 DAYS FOR OUR FURNITURE TO ARRIVE AS SOON AS IT WAS PACKED ON THE TRUCK. HE WAS THE THIRD ESTIMATE WE HAD LOOKED AT, AND HIS SEEMED REASONABLE AND FAST DELIVERY COMPARED TO OTHERS. WE ARE NOW WAITING 16 DAYS AND COUNTING FOR OUR FURNITURE, AND THE ESTIMATE WAS UNDERPRICED AND ONCE THE TRUCK WAS LOADED AND WEIGHED, THE ACTUAUL COST WAS MUCH HIGHER. IT WASNT UNTIL OUR STUFF WAS LOADED ON TO TRUCK THAT WE WERE INFORMED IT WOULD NOT BE 5-7 DAYS, BUT AT LEAST 15 DAYS ORMORE. WE WERE GIVEN AN ESTIMATED DATE OF 11/*/2013; WE CALLED ON 10/**/2013 AS WE NEVER HEARD FROM THEM SINCE PICK UP OF OUR FURNITURE,ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THE TRUCK HAD NOT LEFT NY YET BUT WAS LEAVING SOMETIME TODAY, AND THEY COULD NOT GIVE US A DATE ON WHEN OUR FURNITURE. WE WERE TOLD WE WOULD BE CALLED RIGHT BACK WIH AN ESTIMAED DATE BUT NO ONE CALLED BACK AS PROMISED. IT SEEMS THAT ONCE THEY GOT OUR FURNITURE THEY DIDNT CARE ABOUT US OR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION OR SERVICE. WE WOULD LIKED OUR FURNITURE ASAP AND FEEL WE SHOULD BE COMPENSATED FOR THE LIES AND SCAMMING THAT WE HAVE ENDURED. ALSO NOTE: THE ESTIMAT WE WERE GIVEN PRIOR TO LOADING TRUCK INCLUDED FURNITURE THAT WE INFACT LEFT BEHIND MAKING THE LOAD SMALLER! YET ACTUALCOST WAS MOREAFTER IT WAS LOADED. WE WERE ALSO WARNED BY THE TRUCK DRIVER THAT [redacted] WAS KNOWN TO UNDERESTIMATE SO AS TO GET OUR BUSINESS.Desired Settlement: WE WANT FURNITURE ASAP AND BILL REDUCTION

Response:

One of our best drivers hauled [redacted] from [redacted] to [redacted]. The shipment was loaded on October [redacted] and was delivered on November [redacted]. The delivery was made within the delivery spread which ran until November [redacted] and was signed for by [redacted] on the day we loaded the shipment. [redacted]'s estimate was for $2203.90. His final bill was $2417.61 which was within 10% of the estimate. The driver could not get the tractor trailer near the delivery address in Florida and the shipment had to be shuttled into the residence with a smaller truck. That added $289.90 to the final bill. He also signed for this service since it was obvious that a tractor trailer would not make it anywhere near his new residence. The services that were provided to [redacted] were second to none.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

THE STATEMENT PROVIDED BY THE COMPANY WAS NOT TRUE. THE TRUCK WAS ABLE TO GET INSIDE THE APARTMENT COMPLEX CLOSE ENOUGH TO MAKE THE DELIVERY. ALSO, WHEN WE GOT THE ESTIMATE, WE WERE TOLD 5-7 BUSINESS DAYS TO GET TO FLORIDA, NOT 3 WEEKS. THEY ARE VERY SLICK AND WE WOULD HAVE NO REASON TO COMPLAIN IF WE HAD NO REASON TO.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

I was offered a job opportunity in South Florida so I had to relocate from NYC. I hadn't moved in over ten years and now relocating to a new state was freaking me out. We all know how stressful a local move can be let alone one into another state! A friend of mine had relocated a year before and recommended Bekins to me. He gave his friend Judd my phone number who would be in charge of my estimate.

Judd contacted me and we set up an appointment for an estimate. He was prompt and professional and put together an estimate based on if they packed for me. He explained how much I would save by packing myself. He also let me know that I could start packing and if I didn't finish by move out time ... No worries they'd finish for me . All costs would be calculated in the end. What a relief.

So moving day came , three courteous men came by, at the exact time promised , and moved me out in under 4 hours. Painless!!!

Plus when I was checking underneath every nook and cranny I found a trap and freaked out cuz something was in it. The mover calmed me down and got rid of it .. Above and beyond the call of duty!!!

They told me it takes 2-3 weeks for my stuff to arrive since they do moves on the way. That was expected .

They called me a few days prior to the move. They told me between 10am and 12pm but the problem was my building had to hire security and I was paying by the hour. I called and spoke to Beryl and explained the situation to her. She was a pleasure. She contacted the driver and he agreed to get there at 10am sharp. The movers arrived on time but had to wait a bit for security . They were very nice about it and I even tried to help them but they would not let me touch a thing. They moved my stuff in in under an hour. The cost was under what I was quoted because as Judd had promised , the more I packed myself the more I would save. There had even been one unforeseen cost and when Judd was notified about it he waived it as a courtesy . Bekins is the best.. I will never use another moving company!

Review: I hired this company to store my belongings in storage then I will be moving to Georgia, they quoted me $126.00 and hour for 3 men on the date of my move and they authorized on my credit card $ 630.00 on my credit card before the movers arrived they said to move me to storage the entire move should not take any longer than 5 hours total, the next day I received a call that my bill is now over $1,400.00 which was absolutely crazy , I then asked for what and he said for storage and 5/* boxes I then said to him I was told that my storage was free, he then said ok then $1,200.00 I said to him that I was dealing with my dad's funeral and I will contact him back to discuss, I never authorized over $1,200.00 to be charged to my account , I emailed the company making them aware of this and they charged my card anyway, I am a single mom of infant twins and this scam that they're pulling isn't acceptable .Desired Settlement: I cannot understand how can I be charged almost $700.00 dollars for some boxes , I was never emailed a final bill nor properly explained what I'm being charged for all they're concerned about is being aggressive on the phone and money, They have my twins valuables and they're holding our things and have extremely over charged me.

Review: [redacted] overcharged my credit card by $759.00 AND $548.94.Cost of services received from them were in the amounts of $675.00 (instead I was charged $1,434.00) AND $1,203.00 (instead I was charged $1,751.94)I was billed SEVEN hours on a job that was completed in 3 hours, 10 minutes. In fact, on their bill they state time in: 8:00 am / time finished 12:00 noon, but they in error wrote 7 hours on the invoice instead of 4 hours as it should have been. In addition, they broke and lost several of my things during the move. An itemization of what was broken and lost was filled out and sent to them several months ago as per their request. They never replied.Desired Settlement: credit my charge card.reimburse me for the items that were broken and lost.

Review: We had checked out a few different moving companies for a move we were making from NY to NH, and went with Mafci because of their affordable estimate and how their representative Ken sold us on the company. We were given an estimate of around $3200 for the move, and were told that Ken had "decades of experience" and the total bills were always very close to the estimate.

In early August the movers arrived. They did a fantastic job, the men were friendly and easy to work with. They respected our property when loading up their truck.

The next day, 30 minutes before they were due to drop off, I received a call from Charlie in their office. Charlie wanted to go over our invoice before the property was delivered. The price now jumped from $3200 to a little over $5000. I was shocked, we were moving 400 miles to a new state and I felt like I was going to be sick. I asked why, and instead of an explanation I was told that he would get a manager.

I was waiting for 15 minutes and decided to call back, I got connected to Paul. Paul started screaming at me, telling me I was trying to hit him over the head with everything, and that our items weighed more than we were quoted. He said that he was charging us $500 since we asked our belongings to be dropped off at 12pm. He had called my wife asking her if we could do it earlier, but didn't mention the crazy hidden fee. He was incredibly irate, very rude, and was literally holding all of my belongings hostage.

I told Paul that he was in fact the one "hitting me over the head" by Ken telling us $3200, and then billing us $5000. I explained that we didn't have the budget for this, and that we knew it might be a little more, but not over 50% more! I asked if he could lower the price, and he told me he would go down to $4900. This became ridiculous as I shouldn't have had to bargain with a voice over the phone so we could have our property delivered.

Ultimately Paul agreed to come down to $4650, I had to go through with it because I had no time to research my legal options. The movers dropped off our possessions and did a great job yet again, but I felt literally sick to my stomach the whole time.

I am horribly disgusted by this "tactic" used to extort money out of people when they are at their most vulnerable. I feel like we were deceived by a low quote and then had our arm twisted behind our back with no bargaining chips.Desired Settlement: I would like a partial refund of $650 so that we were only $800 above our quoted price instead of $1450 above it.

Review: I hired this company to split my things between a new address and a storage unit. They were slow and very unprofessional. Because of them, my furniture now has scratches and gauges all over them. In the storage unit my things have been thrown in with no certain order. They have also placed furniture on top of boxes that I have written Fragile on them in big letters. Upon notifying the [redacted] of the company of the damage, he said we did not take out any insurance so there is nothing they will do about the circumstances. He also stated they are to busy to have someone come out to look at the damage that they have done. This company has no idea how to deal with customers or how to move anything. If you are looking for a moving company, look else where.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of the money I have paid for them to move me and also money to replace the furniture.
