Review: I own a condo being rented ([redacted]). I had plumbing problems in this unit similar to those in the past and wanted to determine whether the building, as in the past, caused these problems.
In the past, there was water backing up into the kitchen sink due to the main line of the building, and this problem was the responsibility of the condo (managed by [redacted]). I contacted [redacted] on Sept. 23, 2013 and was referred to Triple State Plumbing Services, with the understanding that if determined by this plumbing company that the problem was caused by the main line, it would be the responsibility of the condo association.
I called Triple State Plumbing on Sept 23 to diagnose the plumbing problems in unit [redacted] in order to determine if they are building-related. After diagnosing, I was given the understanding that the problem was building-related.
At the same time, the plumber ([redacted]) mentioned to me on the phone about the need to replace the garbage disposal, and quoted me the cost at $290. As the quote on the phone was excessive, I hesitated but finally agreed that he would go ahead and do the job as he was already there. This was the only job we talked about on the phone, and to which I agreed to be done.
At the end of the job, he mentioned the bill and the jobs (the disposal, and the bathroom floor) done. I objected to this, as he had not discussed with me about the job in the bathroom. Worse still, he said that I had agreed to this latter job, which was never discussed with me. This blatant lie could not make me more upset.
I object to this unethical and illegal handling.
At present, I only agree to pay the $290, as this job was the only thing I had discussed with the plumber, and approved. The other part on the bill was never discussed with me, and therefore never had my approval. Furthermore, I strongly object to the unethical and illegal manner of performing a job without prior approval, and condemn the blatant lie (that I had approved the bathroom job) used by the plumber to support such business conduct.Desired Settlement: Revised total bill #[redacted] to include only the authorized job for $290
