Tristan and McCleary Reviews (%countItem)

I had a message from United Courier stating there was a complaint against me and I had to call their firm to find out more information. I did speak to an Angela Richardson who said that I would be getting a letter delivered tomorrow. She was from Tristan and McCleary in CA, which I don't even live in that state. When I asked what it was about she said I was being sued for over $7,000 from a debt in 2003, which I do not recall. She stated it was current up until recently and I defaulted on it, which is NOT TRUE. She said that reactivated this debt. I questioned the validity of this and she kept saying I would have to go to court. I told her that it seemed like a scam and she started spewing off how she knew so much about me and was reading specific details like my banking infomation and open credit lines from my credit report. I became angry an hung up on her. We'll see if my "summons" arrives tomorrow. I filed complaints with the AG and the FTC. I also put fraud alerts with the credit bureaus. Just thought I would put my experience here in case someone else had trouble.

This company had a "John Anderson" (generic name...probably bogus) from United Courier service call me to ask if I'd be home on a particular date. I told him I would not (kicking myself for giving this info). He told me he represented a firm, T & M Associates, and there were some legal documents he had to deliver to me. I inquired what they pertained to and he gave me a phone# and case reference #.

I called the number, the receptionist took my case number and verified the phone # I was calling from was good to contact me in case of disconnect. He transferred me to someone, but I was on hold for several minutes, so I hung up. A man immediately called me back, questioning me as to why I didn't say anything when he answered. I ignored him and asked what he wanted. He wanted to verify my identity and said he had several questions to ask me to get this information. He started by giving me 4 numbers, asking me what the numbers pertained to. I told him I wouldn't answer that question and for him to give something else for me to verify identity. He became belligerent, started spouting off his titles, said the call was being recorded, gave me a bunch of the companies affiliations, trade commission status, blah, blah. I told him all well and good, but I would not identify the numbers he gave me. He told me I was legally bound to verify who I was. Again, I told him I would not identify the numbers he gave and for him to offer some other ID verification. He told me that he had much more background information on me...and I told him that was good because he could use some of that other info for ID verification because I would not identify the numbers he gave me and I was going to end the call. He told me I would be served on my job. Then he said, "good luck in court", and he hung up.

I called the company back, got their actual name, and asked for their location...W. Covina, CA.

Nothing about their call seemed legitimate, and I'm ticked off that I even answered the phone. The courier was most likely using a "burner" number because the caller ID showed it originated in a city nearby. Because I've been handling some very important issues and receiving legitimate calls from odd numbers, I thought it best to answer.

I'm mostly bothered by the fact that they now know I won't be home on the date they were supposed to deliver the package. My fear is robbery more than anything else. That other *** is just that. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

I felt the Revdex.com needed to know these people are operating, possibly hoodwinking those who are elderly and/or not well versed on scams, schemes and hacks. To be honest, they almost got me, and I consider myself on top of this kind of stuff. - KL

They called to collect a debt from my elderly father and I spoke with them. They referred to themselves as a law firm and told me he owed money on a credit card from a bank I had not heard of. Knowing this wasn't true I disputed the fact and stated he would not give them any money. They said he would be served the next day and they would put a lien on his other credit lines, and they would place a civil suit on him and also said some nonsense about cease and desist. I looked up the bank they said he had the credit card through And it had closed 10 years ago and my father never did business with them. They were nice at first but became threatening when I questioned the debt. They had all of my fathers information including his ssn. I have reported this company to the federal trade commission also.

I received a collections letter on 12.27.19 from Tristan & Mcleary. They say I owe $2808.16 to Sprint. I called them and talked to them. I told them I couldn't afford to pay it. The person who I was talking to said they could accept $998.16, adn they would automatically withdraw the funds from my account. I was told if I had more questions, I could call ***, Director of Administration at ***. I called that number but the person who answered the phone said it was an auto parts store.
Product_Or_Service: debt collections

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) I gave them my banking info. I'm on SS. I cannot afford this. I want them to provide proof that I owe the debt and to cease all collections efforts. They should not call me. Any communication should be through Revdex.com and mail.
