Review: Tristar Transport Services damaged my vehicle during transport. I took detailed photos immediately before and after the transport, Dec 21, 2012-Dec 27, 2012. There was a chip of paint out on the driver side front door visibly exposing metal of the door to the elements. The damage is at the precise location where the door swings out furthest away from the car when opened (where the outside edge of the door would strike a surface). The damage is clearly visible from over 30 feet away. The photos show it was sustained during transport, while in the possession of Tristar Transport Services. On delivery, the driver, seeing the damage, estimated that repair would be less than his insurance deductible - $1,000. He asked me to get 2-3 estimates for repair.Two days later I had two estimates for repair. The Nissan Dealership wanted to remove and repaint both doors to get a color match. $590.35. Another company said they could get a good enough match removing and repainting only the front door. $363.24. Both companies gave assurances that the only way to fully repair the damage was to remove the door, fill the damaged area, sand, color match, paint, sand, clear coat, and polish. I called the driver. He asked me to fax him the cheaper of the two estimates and said he would send a check for the amount. I sent the fax on Dec 31, 2012.By Jan 26, 2013 (4 full weeks) I still hadn't received a check, so I called the driver. He said his insurance wasn't going to cover it. This was not what I was expecting to hear given that he had said initially that his insurance deductible was $1,000 and since this repair was so much less than that he was going to take care of it by sending me a check (I assumed not involving insurance, that's why he had me fax an estimate and he said he would send a check, rather than have me file a claim).Desired Settlement: I would like the company to send me a check for repairing the damage they caused. $363.24
