Review: This company called our home at random. We were expecting a call from someone else to fix our roof and they played along like they were them. They were unable to do a roof REPAIR because the roof was so badly damaged. The workers had to stop working and wait for "[redacted]" to get there two and a half hours later (because they had to wait for someone to tell them what to do)and "he" had to wait for a supervisor. They told us that there was a severe problem and they could no longer work because two of their men went THROUGH the roof. They showed us pictures on their cell phones of a mans leg going through the roof and how badly damaged the roof was. They charged an exorbitant amount of money for the roof and told us that they would give us ALL the documentation needed to submit to the insurance company. Reassuring us they would "take good care of us". When it came time for them to deal with the insurance company they avoided their calls. They gave us LIMITED pictures of the roof, after asking for them a thousand times (not all the ones they took on their cell phones) and not the ones that were pertinent to making an insurance claim. When I finally left a nasty message, I received a call from "[redacted]" who did not recall the actual events of what happened properly and when I reminded him what transpired he told me he would take care of the insurance company and their questions. He again did not support the truth of what actually happened to the insurance company (we assume it was because we gave them a hard time about dealing with the insurance company, and calling them out on taking advantage of us) and did not tell the insurance company what they had said to us about the men falling through the roof. So they either lied to us in the beginning or lied to the insurance company at the end...the result is still the same. We are out $4000.00 more that we would have received from the insurance company if they had not misrepresented themselves and were honest. It is not about how well the roof was done. Its about taking advantage of people and lying to them to get more money out of them then just a simple "repair" job.Desired Settlement: In light of the fact that these men misrepresented what they were going to do for us and were not honest to either side...we believe that Tristate should refund us $4000.00 because thats what the insurance company would have paid out on top of the original settlement had they gotten the pictures they needed and the REAL story about what happened. If in fact the men DID NOT fall through the roof like they claimed to the insurance company....then they lied to us to get a $26,000+ roof put on our home. They claim to be honest however they either lied to us or the insurance company. And as a recent note: "[redacted]" admits to the man falling through the roof...in an email.....so in fact they lied to the insurance company and we want our $4000.00.

Sincerely,

Review: Tristate was hired to do a home improvement and repair job (originally replacing 7 windows, which, at their advise, was extended into replacement of siding on the front of the house and black mold eradication for two bedrooms, office room, and the bathroom) Original contract was signed 5/*/13, two change orders were added 5/**/13 and 5/**/13 with estimated completion 7/**/13. The payment schedule was set up as follows $35607.00 (total) initial deposit, $15943.00 due "upon delivery", $19682.00 "upon installation". In July, the [redacted] ([redacted]), citing weather conditions, costly mistakes made by Tristate at other jobs, personal and family reasons, insisted that I pay a part of the final amount ahead of schedule. His words were "I know what the contract says, but" and "if we are not paid, we cannot continue work". This happened several times, until, on 7/**/13, he convinced me to authorize, by phone, the last part of that payment, which brought the total amount paid by me to $70207.00 ($1025 short of total by my count, his words were that he's leaving me with $700 'for the shower door' (which was the last part that was supposed to be delivered - it never happened)). By then I also had the contract amended with the statement that if the job is not completed by 7/**/13, it is $2000.00 off, so taking that into account, I not only paid the final amounts ahead of time, but I was even overcharged by $975). The monday after the last charge, 7/**/13, the job was completely abandoned, with tools and building materials still littering my lawn and cluttering the house, with the bathroom unfinished (vanity/sink/etc not installed), with numerous defects (mostly in the job made during july, when the [redacted] was usually the only person coming to work on the job, once a week, very late at night), and with some damage to the house. No further phone calls were answered or returned. I visited the office of Tristate Home Improvements on 8/*/13 an the person in the office, [redacted], said that he is not the boss and can't tell [redacted] what to do (curiously, [redacted] was described as the boss by [redacted] to me earlier). He said that he would understand me completely if I dispute the charges. Continued attempts to contact [redacted] by phone during august were unsuccessful.Desired Settlement: I expect a refund of the amount that was charged in violation of the contract ( $18657.00, spread over two credit cards ), and for the abandoned tools and materials to be removed from my property.
