business is the cause for the repairs rendered to her vehicle. On December 4, 2014 Ms. [redacted] brought her 2010 Lexus with 47,735 miles to our businks to be serviced for an oil change. It is this oil change where she is claiming we placed a temporary oil plug without her knowledge. We have no record ofthis in our vehicle history. It is common practice in our establishment to notify and note on the Receipt any time a temporary plug needs to be utilized; therefore we cannot state that we placed a temporary plug. We also do not ignore the possibility of placing the oil plug without noting it on the receipt, however do not agree this to be the cause of the engine locking and needing to be replaced. On May 16, 2015 Ms..[redacted] took her 2010 Lexus to Midtown Agean Auto Works in [redacted] Texas for an Oil change five months past the recommended time. Ms. [redacted] was informed in order to perform the oil change they would need to change the oil pan due to the temporary oil plug.Cost $653.67 Our Area Manager spoke with [redacted] from Midtown Agean Auto Works to confirm he had performed the service. He stated he had performed the service and that the vehicle left his establishment in good condition. He further stated his mechanic did not notice any concerns with the vehicle to recommend further services. Roughly three months later, around August 9, 2015, Ms. [redacted] stated her check engine light came on and she heard a knocking sound. She took her vehicle to the West Side Lexus Dealership in [redacted] for a Diagnostic. They recommended she replace the short block and pull the valve cover.Cost $11,151.90 Our Area Manager spoke with [redacted] from West Side Lexus to discuss his findings. Our Area Manager shared Ms. [redacted] claim that temporary plug made metal shavings which caused the need to replace her engine. [redacted] stated that is was not possible for the temporary plug to be the cause. He stated that the oil pump had a screen to prevent any deposits from reaching the block. [redacted] further stated lack of lubrication or service negligence would most likely be the cause.We feel horrible that Ms. [redacted] is going through this but do not agree with her suggested cause for the repairs to her vehicle.We appreciate your time to review all sides regarding this complaint.Thank You[redacted]General ManagerAdvance Kwik Lube / Valvoline Express Care[redacted]
