I hired Troutbrook Landscaping for my snow removal When I received the most recent bill, I made the mistake of questioning Andrew about charging me full price for a storm that only resulting in an inch of accumulation In addition, a portion of the driveway had already been done by a family memberBecause he had indicated prior to my signing a contract with him, in an email to me, that there could be reduced pricing in these situation, I inquired about it He clarified that it would have only been reduced if they had used shovels but that he "decided to use snowblowers" and he "decided to charge full price" It seems this early tease of reduced pricing was just a ploy to get me to sign a contract when the intent or practicality of them using shovels was improbableBecause I brought up the discount pricing that he had volunteered when we were discussing him doing my snow removal - he called me cheap and unappreciativeI also relayed a message from my neighbor asking him not to leave a snow pile at the end of his driveway At first Andrew called it a "fantasy" and then by the end of the text thread said that because it was a shared driveway it was impossible for it not to happen He also indicated that my neighbor was the type that is prone to sue - without ever even meeting himThis is not the type of customer service I expect from contractors The result of this exchange leaves me with the impression that Andrew is argumentative, his business practices and communication patterns are offensive and manipulative

This is to inform you that Trout Brook Landscaping has completed the work that we agreed to, at the agreed upon price The work was done in a timely and quality mannerI am completely satisfied with the work done, and would like the case closedThank you! *** ***

I am rejecting this response because: any subcontractor working for the company should be aware of the company's policies on pricing and any pricing that they do, they should live up to I want nothing more to do with Trout Brook Landscaping as I believe they acted in an unethical manner and simply want it known so that others won't be taken in by their poor practices If someone works for me and they offer a customer a price, the price will be honored by me whether it's good or bad Perhaps the owner of Trout Brook should work to understand the ethics and moralities of the business world and the practice of honoring a commitment With this, I'm done with them
Sincerely,

I've used Troutbrook Landscaping for two separate projects now, and I've been equally impressed on both occasions. I like Andrew, the owner, a lot because he's always on call and ready to take on a project when I need it to get done. I think he was born with a chainsaw in his hand. Maybe best of all, his prices are always fair. I intend to use TBL again for my next project.

this man did not contract or make any agreement with my company.   there was a subcontractor who he spoke to on the phone and he got the number off their truck while they were working on my job across the street.  I was not aware that anyone had priced the job or agreed to...

anything.  certainly the subcontractor was not authorized to agree to anything on behalf of my company name.    I was called by this man at [redacted]  to provide an estinate for Tree work and I had no I knowledge that there was a previous price give by any party over the phone     As I gave a price t the end of my estimate  he said had an agreeement with someone from my office over the phone.  I told him, he did not speak to anyone in my company over the phone and upon questkoning I found out it was a subcontractor he spoke with who was on my jobsite and who was pricing it on behalf of his own company.  I never authorize a subcontractor to do business for me or on my behalf and I never price a tree job without walking the property with the owner in person.  tree  estimates e all done in person at my company, never over the phone .         I'm sorry he had this experience of miscommunication with the subcontractor and I have asked the subcontractor to address it with the client, as I don't know what transpired between them.    I was told by the complainant they did not have any written agreement and the client also stated to me the pricing and the deal was contingent upon a Walk through with the other party,, which I don't beleive has occurred.     the client clearly thought that me coming by for a walk through was the walk through that he was looking for, but it wasn't my company that originally spoke to him over the phone to give that preliminary price.     it was just far too much work in person for me to figure out how to handle this client to make him happy for $500.00  and the job was not defined for $500.00according to hu. it was a preliminary price given by a subcontractor who is not with my company.

We have had an account with Andrew for vie years where he has personally overseen all of our landscaping needs: mowing hedging, tree removal etc. He followed us from our house in West Hartford to a new larger property in Bloomfield two years ago. My impression is that Andrew and his team do not stop working until they feel the job is perfection. I can recall one lawn mowing where Andrew got on the ground to use shears to finish an area of grass he felt was uneven that they couldn't reach with the machines. I always rest assured my property is in good hands with these guys.

I have settled her account to no charge for either of those storms, apologized for upsetting her, and moved on from working together.
