[redacted] brought his 2001 Freightliner shuttle bus in on 2/13/17 at 8:30 PM with complaint of air ride will not air up. On 2/14 at 4 PM we pulled unit in and found leveling valve was not functioning properly, no air coming out of valve to go to air bags. We replaced leveling valve and checked...

operation, the valve now has air coming out of it to be able to air up suspension; however the air bags were not airing up because the air was coming out of the bags themselves due to being dry rotted. We made estimate and called [redacted], we had to leave message. On 2/15 at 8 AM customer called in and approved estimate. On 2/15 at 10 PM we pulled unit back into shop and replaced air bags. The air bags would then air up but not very quickly. We pulled the air line at air tank from air compressor and could hold our finger over the line, if compressor was functioning to its capacity you would not be able to hold your finger over the line. At this time we also found that a coolant line that goes to compressor was not hooked up and was plugged off at back of engine. We advised [redacted] that unit would need air compressor. At the original time of diagnosis we would not have known this as the air was leaking out of the dry rotted air bags as fast as it went in, so there was no way for us to know that air compressor was not building air quickly. [redacted] declined further repairs. [redacted] came to pick up bus and now the air bags will not air up at all. We found air compressor is now not pumping any air at all, it has completely went out. 2/17 4:45 PM [redacted] declined replacement of air compressor again and said he would be coming to get unit. 2/21 12:15 PM, [redacted] called and has decided to have compressor replaced; he approved estimate. We ordered the part. On 2/24 at 8 AM we pulled unit in and replaced air compressor. We ran and rechecked and suspension is now operating completely; air compressor putting out correct air output, leveling valve allowing air through it and air bags airing up. Customer requested to have air bags that we replaced, we put them in his bus for when he came to pick it up.

Our facility performed work on a check engine light for the [redacted]'s and completed the work.  After leaving our facility the unit experienced a check engine light again and Mr. [redacted] was able to get the unit into Empire Truck Sales to be repaired.  Our Service Team spoke to Mrs. [redacted] and...

the staff at Empire Truck Sales.  The staff at Empire advised our staff that the repairs they made were not related to the repairs we made.  Our staff explained this to Mrs. [redacted] and we declined payment for the repairs.  Our GM, [redacted], spoke to Mrs. [redacted] and after digging into their paperwork from Empire, discussing with our service manager [redacted], and looking at the codes and established trouble shooting, we reversed our decision.  Our technician should have went further and caught the issue with the Delta P sensor.  [redacted] spoke to Mrs. [redacted] again and advised that we should have went further and discovered the additional problem.  We agreed to pay for the repair at Empire and mailed a check for $587.23 FedEx and next day to Mrs. [redacted]'s home.  After several conversations with Mrs. [redacted] we feel we have resolved this claim with Mrs. [redacted] and she advised she was happy with the outcome of this situation.  She advised [redacted] she would be pulling her complaint.Thank you!
