Truckin Movers Corporation Reviews (8)

I had never used this plumber before.

They repaired a small water leak under a rental house on my farm. Two weeks later when I went to repair the damage to the floor, there was still a leak. It was not clear if this was an old leak which they had missed on their first visit or a new leak which had developed after their first visit.

But they came out and fixed it anyway at no charge! They'll certainly get my business in the future.

Strongly recommend contracting with Truckin Movers; professional, on-time, and went above and beyond our expectations. Having used other moving companies, this company moved all our items without a single scratch, dent or miss handling of any kind. If and when we move again, I will definitely call on them - without hesitation.

I was moving my family from a high rise condo and nearby storage unit in downtown Chicago to Cary, NC with a one month stay in storage before completing the move.
The team I worked with ([redacted], and [redacted]) was fantastic from start to finish.
This was a complicated move and my family had little time to plan and pack ourselves. I was looking for someone to come and move and partial pack my condo as well as contents of a storage unit, then put everything into storage, until we could move into our new home a month later.
[redacted] was very helpful in assessing the move and helping me think through move dates and logistics. He was also very reassuring that his team could handle the move from coordinating with our condo requirements and storage, as well as delivering on dates we agreed upon. I trusted him implicitly from the start and was not disappointed.
The moving team was courteous, respectful and careful. They didn't hustle but took the time they needed to do the job WELL! The packing of my kitchen was meticulous. Really! I was very impressed when unpacking a month later. Not a single item was damaged or broken through the entire move. They also seemed respectful of my overall home, cleaning after themselves and generally being thoughtful.
Finally, they were dead on with their estimate and the final cost. No surprises which I appreciated. They were not the cheapest estimate that I was confident that they would deliver and they did. I was so impressed by how well it went that I have recommended Truckin to a friend making a similar move.
Moving sucks - these guys make it as easy as you can hope for. Only suggestion would be to let them pack. The boxes they packed fared beautifully in the move. Some of the boxes we over/under packed ourselves with flimsy taping looked a bit tried. If you can afford it, leave it to them!

Refused to replace damaged furniture. On July 8, they sent what they called a top of the line sale manager Brad Cave over to my house to give me the estimate for a move from Durham, NC to Cary, NC. Brad looked at all of the items in and outside of the house and claimed that they are high quality and heavy stuff. He gave me a not to exceed total of $1,300 + extra $273 for option #3 ($36,400 coverage). The morning that they came over to move the stuff, the team lead made it difficult by saying my stuff is heavy this and heavy that and made me pay an extra $150. It was kinda too late for me or else I would not let them move because of their practice. The others issues are:1. It was late into the evening, one of the guys lost his cool by slamming the furniture and kept dropping tools into a brand new hardwood floor. Other Truckin Movers guy witnessed as well.2. They broke my outside stone statues and refused to take responsibility because they said they are not specialize in moving stone statues knowing that they agreed to do it to begin with.3. They broke one of my AICO Eden style barstool to the point it will become dangerous even if they are going to fix it and refused to replace it for me knowing that I have paid for extra coverage. The worse is that they claimed this barstool is made of rubber wood knowing that according to the AICO and other furniture stores, they all said the barstool is made of Birch Hardwood. The bottom line here is that when they charge you for moving your stuff, they kept saying your furniture is expensive, high quality, etc.. but when they broke it, they would act like your furniture is poor quality, bad design so they don't have to replace or pay for it.It hurts when I give someone this type of review but I have tried to settle with the manager [redacted] but it didn't go anywhere and dragged out for more than 2 months now. Hope that my review will make others think twice about dealing with this company.Desired SettlementThe manager Doug asked me to provide him the quote for this AICO Eden style barstool. It is only $399 + tax but refused to replace or pay for it.Business Response We have always been willing to repair any damages caused by the move. This customer claimed three items. We sent a repair service to the home. The service fixed two of them but because of a misunderstanding customer would not let the chair be repaired. That misunderstanding has been cleared up and we are sending the service back to customer's home this Friday to repair the chair. Customer agrees to remove this complaint when the chair is fixed.

My contract with Truckin' Movers included coverage for damages. Our kitchen table was damaged and they have not responded to my insurance claim. On Feb. 27, 2014 Truckin' Movers (TMC) were employed for our crosstown move. Upon their advice, I paid an extra $22.50 for their Option 2 Intrastate Move Protection, which claims to pay "the full cost of repairing ...any... damaged article up to the current normal market price for the comparable new replacements, less depreciation." Our teak kitchen table was uncovered at the time the movers arrived and they noticed a dent on the side edge of the table. I agreed that it was pre-existing. Before they removed the table from the house, I offered that they could use one of my moving blankets to cover the table surface. They did use my blanket and secured it with packing tape. When the table was moved into the new house, the blanket remained taped in place for several weeks while my wife was traveling international. Once it was removed, I discovered that there were several dents and scratches on the table surface that had not been there previously. Although not in a box, this was damage to a concealed item that was packed by TMC. The damage was reported to TMC on April 7, 2014 with an official claim submitted to their employee [redacted] via email. The damage was appraised a repair value of $550 by [redacted] of [redacted] by [redacted]Over the course of two months there were three additional emails and several phone calls to TMC to ascertain the status of this claim. I spoke to [redacted], President of TMC, who assured me in an email that he would follow-up on this claim. After several more weeks without response, I sent TMC a certified letter indicating that I expected a response or additional steps would be taken. I gave them a deadline of June 7, 2014, 60 days after the initial claim was submitted. To date, I still have not received an official response from Truckin' Movers. This inaction by TMC constitutes a breach of contract so I am requesting they pay for the cost of the repair ($550) and return their cost of their services ($406.50) for a total of $956.50.Desired SettlementThis inaction by TMC constitutes a breach of contract so I am requesting they pay for the cost of the repair ($550) and return their cost of their services ($406.50) for a total of $956.50Business Response /[redacted]/I have contacted Mr. [redacted] today to explore settlement options. After waiting from 9am to 9:20am, I did call his office directly. The person who answered told me that he was on the other line and asked me to leave a message, which I did. I am now waiting for Mr. [redacted] to contact me.Final Business Response /[redacted]/Mr. [redacted] and Truckin' Movers have reached a full settlement for his claim of a damaged table top. We paid Mr. [redacted] the agreed sum by check to have the top repaired and that check has cleared our account. I have apologized to Mr. [redacted] for the delays with this process. There has been a disagreement as to how/when the damage occurred. The $400 refund from [redacted] should be added to your $500 not included in it. We agreed on the $500 from you BEFORE I talked to [redacted]July 7, 2015We hired Truckin' Movers to move my daughter from Durham, NC to Dallas, TX. They told both my daughter and I that her belongings would be put into two containers, each 5x7x7, at her apartment and lifted onto a big truck. Then they would be shipped Fed Ex on Monday June 8th or Tuesday June 9th, at the VERY latest. When they got to Dallas the containers would be put into storage until the time for moving in. The containers would then be taken to her apartment and unloaded. The movers came on Saturday June 6th. They had a small truck and no containers and claimed it was because it was Saturday. Since we were told they move people like this all the time, we didn't understand why they didn't have the containers even though it was Saturday. Her belongings were put loose onto the truck. On Monday, June 8th, they were moved again (two moves of her items on this end rather than one) and packed into one container, not two like we were being charged for. The container was NOT sent Fed Ex like they promised. They contacted [redacted] Wake Forest, NC, and found out they were making a trip to CA by way of Dallas leaving Monday June 15th, and would take the container for only $400. (Truckin' Movers was charging us $2,839.69!) So Truckin' Movers arranged to wait and send it with [redacted] the next week. (We were told we would be charged for Dallas storage during this time.) All this change had been done behind our backs without Truckin' Movers informing us or giving an explanation for the change. The unloading date was changed from Wednesday afternoon, June 17th, to Thursday morning, June 18th because the truck was running late. It was then that my daughter found out that Truckin' Movers did NOT use Fed Ex like they promised! One reason she was willing to hire Truckin' Movers was because Fed Ex was a reputable company and would get the container there on time. My daughter and four men waited Thursday morning for the truck and it didn't come. The men left after four hours. My daughter waited the whole day (12 hours!) in the empty apartment without even a chair to sit on and no TV or internet or anything to do. My daughter kept trying to call the drivers and they did not answer their phone or return her messages. She was very stressed not knowing where her things were. Truckin' Movers had not heard from the drivers either. When it looked like they would not get there before the weekend my daughter started making plans to fly back for the weekend since she did not know anyone in Dallas and had no furniture to work with. She had just spent two VERY long days driving to Dallas by herself. Now she was faced with having to leave. She was SO upset.Elite Freight Systems did show up late Thursday evening with NO explanation or apology. It was arranged to unpack the next morning. The container was not brought to the apartment as promised. Instead, the container was unpacked and my daughter's belongings put on a small truck and brought to the apartment where they were moved again. They were moved a total of FOUR times, two on each end, rather that two! When I explained my dissatisfaction, [redacted] offered me $500 for His service problems. I agreed on that but said that would not cover the problems with [redacted] I contacted [redacted] myself and the owner said I could have his $400 from [redacted]. [redacted] should have ADDED that on to his $500, but he tried to include it in his $500 so he would only be left paying $100 rather than the $500 he offered and we agreed on.I request:1. $700 ($300 from Truckin' Movers and $400 from [redacted] for late delivery2. $500 from Truckin' Movers for service problems3. Total refund $1,2004 Increased insurance to cover damageAll this is what I was promised.I was charged $1,900 on AMEX. The TOTAL bill with the refunds should be $1,861.98. I need a refund of $38.02 and no more charges on my AMEX.I called [redacted] and emailed him and he has not responded backDesired SettlementRefund AMEX $38.02 with no further charges.Final Consumer Response /[redacted]/Consumer called to say issue is resolved.
