It is our company policy to charge a cancellation processing fee on GAP insurance and Service Contracts.[redacted]Truckmasters

I'm in the market to purchase a used vehicle and was happy to find a couple of cars I was interested in located on the Truckmasters website. The prices are not listed online, so my husband called the dealership to inquire as to the price and whether or not one of the vehicles was still for sale on the lot. My husband spoke with a salesman who told him the price of the vehicle is "15 or 17 or 14."- Red flag number 1. My husband asked if the vehicle was still for sale because we live over 50 miles from the dealership and didn't want to waste our gas or time traveling to look at a vehicle that isn't available. My husband was assured they had the vehicle and it was still for sale. We ended up driving to the dealership just a few hours after the conversation in order to view the vehicle in person. When we got to the dealership we met with the sales assistant that my husband had spoken with on the phone. The salesman remembered speaking to my husband and quickly informed us that he believed the vehicle was no longer for sale or available. It turns out the vehicle had been sold, returned and resold at least a week ago. He also said he thought the vehicle had been at a separate lot and that lot possibly hadn't informed this lot that the vehicle was no longer available- Red flag number 2. The salesman was apologetic, but was more than happy to try to show us the vehicles at this lot. We told him we aren't interested but inquired about the second vehicle that is listed for sale on the dealership website. It turns out that vehicle had been sold a while ago too- Red flag number three. I informed him that both vehicles were still listed for sale on the dealership website and that I wasn't happy about driving for an hour to view a vehicle that he said was still for sale even though it wasn't. He again apologized and said the website administrator must have been slow to update the website. Hmmmmm.

Apologies are nice, but they don't mean much when they're accompanied by excuses as to whydue diligence wasn't done to make sure the car is still available for sale, on your lot, and to give an accurate sale price. Needless to say, we left the lot pretty unimpressed.

I don't know if we were intentionally mislead or if our experience was the result of poor training/poor customer service. Either way, I don't know anyone who would feel comfortable doing business with a dealership that is either deceptive OR unprofessional. As a result, our family will be taking our business elsewhere.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

This dealership sold me a vehicle WITHOUT having legal right to do so.  This vehicle had a title with a different lien holder on it TD auto based on the east coast and had not been cleared by another dealership prior to my purchase which in [redacted] is illegal and under Federal trade law is considered an open title sale which is also illegal.  This dealership sold this vehicle to me under the misrepresentation of material facts that should have been disclosed to me before purchase.  The temp tags provided by the dealership were done through misrepresenting me as the legal registered owner in this state even though that was not true the LEGAL owner of this vehicle until the title was cleared was [redacted] the previous owner listed on the title with TD auto finance and at all times during this process for the last 6 to 7 weeks could have legally taken this vehicle from me as well as Truck masters. It is my belief that Truck masters used deceptive and misleading sales practices to affect this sale and I am currently having the attorney generals office look into this as well as the Federal trade Commission based on information I received over the course of the past 6 to 7 weeks.  I will never do business with this dealership again nor will I ever do business with [redacted] Trucks , [redacted] ford, [redacted] autos all of which were involved in this sale and all of which violated trade laws and state laws during this process.  It is shameful to use sale practices like this on us consumers.  I own this truck as of the 30th due to me placing pressure on [redacted] ford and [redacted] auto not because [redacted] Trucks or Truck masters did what they were required by law to do. As a consumer I would like to let all dealerships know that lying to your customers will make you go out of business.

Regards,

We have already issued a check for $1750.00 to Miss [redacted] in consideration of her unfortunate experience.
