Product not administered correctly and killed my grass in many areas. Was promised to correct the
problem but did not do so.
I have always hired someone to fertilize, weed and feed, and maintain my grass. Tru-green bought out the company I was using. In April 2017, they came and put chemicals out incorrectly. My grass died in large areas. I called them and they said they would make this right. The owner assured me if they could not fix this, they would replace the grass that was dead. The owner came and looked at the grass and said too much herbicide was dispensed. He again assured me this would be handled. They tried a couple of different things, but it did not fix the problem. When grass dies, weeds and Bermuda grass will come back in its place. This is what happened to my yard in many places. I did not have this mixture of grass as my yard had been sodded with centipede grass and maintained ever since our home was built. The owner knows this and promised to make it right. He said he couldn't get anyone to come replace the grass, then he stopped trying and quit answering my calls. I own a business and would not treat someone this way. I also know the owner and would not think he would have treated me this way.

Desired Outcome

I would like my grass that died as a result of his employee's mistake to be replaced.

TruGreen Response • Jan 29, 2018

On April 7, 2017, an application of liquid fertilizer and herbicide was made to Mrs. lawn. On April 19, Mrs. notified me that some of her grass was yellowing. Upon inspection of the lawn, we found evidence of winter damage and some discoloration and damage that appeared to have been caused by herbicide. We applied an application of granular fertilizer to the lawn to expedite the return of green color and to promote growth and recovery of the grass in the discolored and stunted areas. As result, green color returned to the discolored areas and to the satisfaction of Mrs. Additionally, on June 20, we provided a core aeration of the lawn at no charge as a measure of good faith. Consequently, there was an area on the right side of the house where the grass did not recover and we offered to sod that area. The total amount of sod needed to repair the damage area was less than one pallet. I can understand anyone's frustration in this situation, however, dealing with Mrs. throughout this circumstance has proven to be all but impossible for me and my employees. We did in good faith attempt to have the sod replaced in the damaged area by two separate landscapers. After meeting with Mrs. they refused the job and we were unable to provide this service. Mrs. further stated that she expected us to re sod areas where she had Bermuda grass mixed in with the Centipede grass. Common Bermuda can be an invasive grass to other turf grass and it is not uncommon to find it in centipede lawns. The Bermuda grass that Mrs. speaks of was not caused or promoted by our service and there are herbicides that can be used to remove Bermuda from Centipede if so desired.

We have been in business here for 13 years and currently service over 500 customers in north Louisiana and take pride in our service and our customer's satisfaction. We have attempted to resolve this to the best of our ability.

Customer Response • Feb 07, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not accept his response because it is not the truth. I also have been in business for 26 years. I do not treat my customers the way I have been treated. The first and only person I ever talked to about replacing the grass saw it when it was first messed up and he told me he didn't have time to fool with this. I never talked to anyone else. *** promised his brother-in-law would come and fix it when he had time, but I never saw him and now realize he had no intention of honoring his word that he would make things right. The remark about a core aeration provided in good faith is also a lie. He asked me if they could try that so they would not have to replace so much sod. He also asked me to get the person that mows my lawn to cut it shorter to see if that would help. I know what good faith is and this is not it. AS for employees, all I can say is I had no problem with them, but of course they work for him and I'm sure they need their job. I am sending pictures to the address you provided me. The proof is in them. After the lies told in his response, I would not ever want him on my property again.
