In response to the complaint against my business, let me list a few clarifying items, so as not to get...

too wordy.1) All of our receipts clearly state "no refunds or exchanges", since eyeglasses are medical devices.2) The patient in question spent 30-45 minutes picking out her eyeglass frames and was helped by our two best Opticians.3) We offered to let her purchase another frame at a discount and remake the lenses for free. We even said she could bring in a frame from somewhere else. She refused.4) Eyeglass lenses (in this case progressive lenses) cannot be re-used. They are custom made for each patient. Frames that have been worn a month cannot be re-used. We purchased and paid for both. Our lab agreed to re-make the lenses within a month as a favor to us.5) The patient complained to Care Credit, they reviewed the case and denied a refund.6) The patient did NOT want to exchange the glasses. She wanted a complete refund and would not hear of us re-making the lenses in a different frame.7) Further, she told our Optician that she had already purchased other eyeglasses somewhere else for less, and THAT is why she wanted a refund.This sounds like a case of buyer's remorse and poor frame choice. When Mr. [redacted] originally left us a review on [redacted] with similar allegations, I asked if I could inspect the vehicle with our Service Manager.  Mr. [redacted] declined.If acceptable, I would like to have a third party, independent, forensic technician view the vehicle at my expense.If our...

is not how we do business.  If it was the service advisor, [redacted], then this is one more reason I am glad he is no longer with us!On November 20, 2015 Mr. [redacted] brought his Civic in for "symbol A" maintenance-which includes an oil change, a rattle while coasting over 40 miles per hour (which seemed to be cured by replacing the VTEC valve assembly), a headlight bulb, and a seat belt buckle that was under recall.  At the time there were 173,969 miles on Mr. [redacted]'s car.  We recommended 11 things.  Three were engine related; one was a diagnosis for an unidentified fluid leak, one was a diagnosis for the oil low pressure light being on and another for the check engine light being on. The oil low pressure light indicates the engine is low on oil or the oil pump has failed, both being catastrophically bad conditions for the engine to operate under.  When the oil light illuminates, the engine must be turned off as soon as you can safely pull over to the side of the road, and towed to a repair facility.  For third party verification please see:  http://[redacted].com/low-oil-pressure-warning-light  By this point the engine’s fate was probably already sealed, considering the car was being driven in a low oil condition.Having admittedly been told there was catastrophic engine damage, why did Mr. [redacted] elect to keep "investing" money in the Civic?On December 12, 2015 Mr. [redacted] returned for the seat belt buckle that was ordered, replacement of noisy rocker arms, repair the oil leak, and replace the timing belt.  All repairs that would strongly signal a desire to keep the vehicle.On April 21, 2016, The diagnosis at 180,180 miles, the lower end of the engine is knocking.According to the service manager [redacted], as a gesture of goodwill, [redacted] offered to pay for half of the engine. About a week after, Mr. [redacted] informed [redacted] he would donate the vehicle to charity.  Since then the vehicle has been towed away from Honda of Joliet by Mr. [redacted].  Labor to replace the engine is $2,520.  As of this writing, [redacted] has a used engine with 113,000 miles for $950.Now Mr. [redacted] wants $7000?  [redacted] Private party sale, as of 7/1/16, fair condition, is $2,555.  Trade-in value is $1,489.  Average auction prices are $2,111 with only 157,000 miles.  [redacted] average condition wholesale $1,375 and retail $2925.  I would be willing to honor [redacted]’s initial goodwill offer, which equates to half of $3,470 ($1735).Where is the vehicle now? Was it donatated or sold? If so, what was the financial gain from the transaction?
