March 16, 2017To Whom It May Concern,We received the complaint ID *** on 03/16/As requested, "there are two sides toevery dispute." The patient originally came in for her annual comprehensive eye exam on 12/06/at which time she requested to purchase a of RGP contact lensesAccording to
Texas law, the doctor is required to evaluate the patient to make sure her eyes are still healthy enough to continue wearing contacts and that she is wearing the correct parametersAccording to the patient's vision plan, Eyemed,they contribute $towards the Contact Lens Evaluation (92310)Our fee is $so the patient out of pocket would have been the $which is what the patient is disputing.The patient came in on 02/07/to pick up her RGP contacts that were ordered in DecemberAt which time, we explained the situation with the remaining balance The patient became very upset threatening to "fire us" and leave a "bad Yelp review"As with most doctors, charts are finished at the end of the day which means some billing can be adjusted before being sent to the vision plan for paymentThat was the case with this patientAt her exam and with the results that were calculated her services and materials were able to be filed to Eyemed as Medically Necessary ContactsThat means the patient only pays a copay, and Eyemed pays the restDue to an improvement in her vision her exam did not qualify for the same benefit as previous yearsThat may be where the confusion is, because it was a new process to herWe've already discounted off $which is in compliance with the patient's vision planUnfortunately, we would be 'unable to refund the $that the patient is requesting without committing insurance fraud and putting our business at risk for failing an audit by her insurance company.We will send the requested contact lens prescription and receiptThis patient's lenses are specialty in which some parameters are determined by the lab that creates them, which is why the prescription was not available at the time of her exam
