sent my daughter in for an oil change, they did an alignment ($89.95) and tire rotation and balance ($49.95) I called and said I couldn't find a recommended alignment in the Subaru schedule and he said he was following the tire manufacturers' recommendation ('all of the tire mfgrs') I called director of service and he said 'all subaru dealers' and 'all tire manufacturers' recommend an annual alignment I called subaru north america (annual alignment not recommended) and the two subaru dealers nearest me (both said alignment only with a problem or complaint) called Michelin, Goodyear and Yokohama technical support - none of them recommend time based alignment Called supervisor back of website for tire manufacturers recommending annual alignment he said he would have to call me back He did - two hours later ('rubber & tire mfgr', 'NHTSA') he then said my daughter was an adult and approved the service Also note - the tires were new and had less than 4,miles on them why would I rotate and balance them? he asked if I was saying that his service department was recommending service that wasn't needed and I said that is exactly what I was saying they took advantage of someone who knows nothing about cars and that is shameless
