A gutter
installer friend of mine installed the gutters for me. He used a bubble level
to make sure they were pitched from front to the back where downspouts are
located on garages. He didn’t realize that the garage was not level. It was
actually slanted from the back of the structure to the...

front (ground not level
or built right or settled uneven). I went out
on Saturday November 7th after it rained day before that to see if
the mitered corners on the front were dripping. We rang bell and knocked on the
house door. Mr. [redacted] never answered or came out. We saw water was sitting
in the front gutter and around both corners going back from the front. The back
was dry meaning the water wasn’t completely draining to the back downspouts. We
scheduled to go back out on Monday to re-adjust the pitch better to get
positive drainage or water flow to the downspouts. We found out Monday Mr.
[redacted] sent a complaint to the Revdex.com that morning. I removed
the gutters and re-pitched them approximately 4” which just barely gave the gutters
a positive water flow to the downspouts. At that time, we realized that the
garage was built or settled on an opposite angle. We also installed aluminum
fascia cover up under the gutter apron and down over the back of gutter to help
prevent water going over the back of gutter when they fill with ice in the
winter months. I went back
out Thursday AM after last night’s rain storm and was happy to see the gutters
were dry from the front all the way to the two downspouts. This is the second
time in 43 years doing this work that we came across a garage that was pitched
to the front by quite a few inches. Normally the structures are built level and
the gutters only need a ½” total pitch.  Mr. [redacted] said he mentioned the garage was
leaning to the front. It is hard to see with the naked eye.  I always tell gutter installers to water flow
test the gutters and don’t just rely on the bubble level.
